I was not confident in this (not a bombers jersey expert) and did not bid, but would be interested in learning from others what the issues were with this item that had TONS of watchers but sold for under $300. Can someone please point out the problems? Or dod someone get a great deal here?

Tagging looks OK...someone help me recall who the armband was for in 1996, as I'm having a brain fart and can't remember.

The armband was for broadcaster Mel Allen who passed away on 6/16/96.

The inscription and signature probably put a lot of buyers off. I know a lot of collectors just don't want signed jerseys, much less one with an inscription to someone.

How do you know it had tons of watchers? Unless your the seller?

Well if your the seller or not the reason why I would assume it went low was because of poor description and pictures.

any auction you look at shows the "most watched items" in the same item field at the bottom of the page

Same as the other member mentioned. Do you mean the page counter?

No, I am not the seller. You can see the volume of watchers a couple of ways. eBay often now shows the "most Watched" similar items now on ended items. There are also a couple of web sites that tracked most watched ebay items by category.

So I guess it was a legit jersey from the comments. Seems like a good deal for someone.

Well unless I had the Jersey in my hand to see if everything was legit on it but just going by a quick glance at the the couple of pictures provided it does look good. Not only did someone get a good deal but got more like a steal.

96 World Championship season
96 No Hitter Season
Armband does at a small premium to value.

Add all those up plus it's a Yankees jersey and coming from a NY Fan favorite.

Definitely a steal.

Maybe the bad press he got lately played into it not going high???

Getty image number 72545800 looks like it could be a match maybe. I can't tell if the pinstripes on the top right match up.
