It has been a goal of mine to obtain a game used Alan Trammell bat since I started collecting. Finally, after a 20+ year wait, I received one of my holy grails in the mail.

The bat is from 06/11/91 and looking at the box score he had quite a day as well: 2 for 5, 2 stolen bases, and 2 runs scored in a 5-1 Tigers victory!

One thing cool about the salty glove is its his own model. A JS21. Not sure if all the pro players have their own models but seemed a little strange since he isnt exactly what youd call a super star.

Here is my latest-greatest pick up. It is a 1951-55 Ted Williams W 166 game used bat. It is 35 inches in length and currently weighs 29.7 oz. (probably was a 32 oz. bat years ago) It is uncracked and was originally given to a Fenway Park vendor many years ago by Williams himself. The vendor in turn awarded the bat to his grandson (now 45) on his 16th birthday and that is where I got it from. The bat is uncracked and shows lots of use including ball marks, rack marks and cleat marks everywhere. The number 9 is still visible under a black light on the knob as well. I purchased the bat by flying to Boston, MA. Problem was a thing called "Homeland Security" when I got ready to fly back to Illinois. The bat is considered a weapon by law and I was not allowed to board having it in my possession. Luckily, I brought along a FED EX shipping container and packed it securely. It then went below the plane as a bag. After arriving back--I had to hope beyond hope that it popped up on the baggage claim carousel. I am relieved to say it did and not has a nice home with my other game used bats.

So your the one who got the Williams bat. That guy was a jerk to deal with. May i ask what you ended up paying for the bat, because he had two seperate listing prices and never gave a real price with what he wanted(i offered $3,100). If i didn't dick around with asking questions i would have had it for the $250. Also you do know it's going to send a red flag to someone saying you'll fly to pick it up. So what do you think the value is, i told him it all depends on use and i could offer more but have to see the bat inperson, we'll he won't do that. Not technically a February pick up but close enough ;) Thanks to a great member I was able to acquire these items for my Palmeiro collection.

- 2 pairs of 2005 game used Raffy batting gloves. They show incredible use!

- a signed and inscribed, fully sealed champagne bottle given to teammates and clubhouse staff the night Raffy collected hit #3000. What an amazing one of a kind piece of memorabilia!

Brett was a wilson guy his whole career..He could have used a Mizuno, but I'd have to see photo evidence of that:

Ditto. I lowered my price threshold considerably to MLB-game-issued or event-used at best:
1) I could find no evidence of him using a Mizuno glove prior to the auction closing, still haven't. And agree that he used nearly exclusively Wilson brand gloves, to the best of my knowledge.
2) I discounted the UDA letter as nearly worthless, since it does not state any specifics on the glove, ie make, model, color, etc. Nothing definitively ties that glove to that letter, ie potential exists for a switcheroo.
3) Letter only says its genuine and authentic, but does not assert that it was used in MLB Game or even used by George personally - its insufficiently vague for my reliance.
4) the glove was not offered by UDA until 10 years after Brett's retirement, meaning a lot of things could have happened in between, All-Star game appearances, 10 years of Spring Trainings, charity/celebrity softball games... Just no telling when and where the glove would have actually been used by George, if at all.


I cannot disprove its possible authenticity, but I sure can't validate it as MLB Game Used by Brett either. I hope for the buyer that it can be validated as genuine...

If the Guillen bat was used in a game, as opposed to batting practice, it should be pretty easy to photomatch. I recorded into an excel file every AB that Guillen had in 2009 and the only game he used a Max bat was on April 9, 2009 against the Blue Jays. My notes from the game are as follows. ABs 1-3, Max bat, black barrel and natural handle (non-HD game, may have been Mariucci). If you want the entire excel file, I can e-mail it to you. He used SSK bats for most of his at bats last year.

Two Matsui game used bats along with his batting gloves.

Was a little perturb when I saw the bats - they are two differents kind. One was his normal ash version which he used during the game and the other one is black version which I was told he used during batting practice.

I think Alex Rodriguez has the same bat method with the yankees. His black bat during the game and the blonde bat during batting practice.

One of 12 pucks authenticated by MeiGray at the Winter Classic. I was at the game and watched to see how many pucks were used in the game and aside from the ones MGG collected, very few others were used in the game. There was one puck that was launched out of play that rolled to the monster and I could not see who got it, one puck went out of play toward the first base dugout and was actually retrieved by someone in the front row by the on deck circle, Scott Hartnell threw the last puck of the first period into the crowd behind the 3rd base dugout, and I saw each ref/linesman pocket a puck or two each throughout the game.

This puck was used in the second period and goes nicely with the jersey I got for my wife that was used that period.

Here is my latest-greatest pick up. It is a 1951-55 Ted Williams W 166 game used bat. It is 35 inches in length and currently weighs 29.7 oz. (probably was a 32 oz. bat years ago) It is uncracked and was originally given to a Fenway Park vendor many years ago by Williams himself. The vendor in turn awarded the bat to his grandson (now 45) on his 16th birthday and that is where I got it from. The bat is uncracked and shows lots of use including ball marks, rack marks and cleat marks everywhere. The number 9 is still visible under a black light on the knob as well. I purchased the bat by flying to Boston, MA. Problem was a thing called "Homeland Security" when I got ready to fly back to Illinois. The bat is considered a weapon by law and I was not allowed to board having it in my possession. Luckily, I brought along a FED EX shipping container and packed it securely. It then went below the plane as a bag. After arriving back--I had to hope beyond hope that it popped up on the baggage claim carousel. I am relieved to say it did and not has a nice home with my other game used bats.

So when Willie Mitchell went down with an injury, my second favorite hockey player ever was FINALLY awarded for his leadership, hard work and pure heart by getting to wear the "A" for my beloved Canucks. I thought I would be free of my yearly Sami Salo purchase as there were no special patches, alternate jerseys or changes from last year but a player's first "A" is a pretty special accomplishment and fits perfectly into my collection. I emailed the fine folks at MeiGray and pre-ordered and paid in full for the shirt shown below. My only worry is that the Canucks are on a record setting 82 game road trip (or so it seems) and if Mitchell returns before March 10th, the Canucks are going to tear the "A" off. If they do, I may switch to the Blue version as they will not play another game in those shirts and therefore the "A" will remain intact on the jersey. Come to think of it, I may just order that one too lol. This collecting thing is a disease.

Picked up my 2nd Cooper bat from Manny's time in Cleveland (bottom bat). One bat is a RD45 model with a pretty pronounced knob and this latest one is a C243 with a knob more like what Manny uses now. Oddly enough, having just moved to Cleveland, I watched an old recording of an Indians game in late 1996 when they clinched the Central and Manny was sure enough using a Cooper!

I picked up two things this month the first is a Travis Denker batting helmet from the 2009 Pawtucket Red Sox season that is pounded with use that I have been able to photomatch as well. He is not a star but its a sweet piece that is loaded with use. The second was a Barry Bonds autographed photo I got a show this past weekend and after I bought it I took a closer look and realized its a very early Bonds signature from his rookie season-it has his rookie jersey number.

Johnny Damon and some other sports celebrities are here on Kauai participating in a golf tournament for the Children's Miracle network.

Funny story.......When I pulled the bats out of the box, Damon looked at them and asked how I got them. I told him the name of the Red Sox teamate (that I will not mention here on forum) and it was someone I know that is close friends with that teamate, he smiled and said "that's where all my bats were going!"

Damon is a super nice guy and when I asked him to add the "game used" inscription to one of the bats, he asked if I was going to sell the bat, I said "No" I'm going to keep it in my collection with my other Red Sox gamers.

Also, got a signed Stephen Strasburg signed baseball when he was on the island for his honeymoon a few weeks ago.

Well according to the pics on Getty, the road jerseys were Russell. So you have incorrect information it seems. Maybe the homes were Wilson as they do not show the Russel logo on the sleeve in pics I found. Here's Smoltz from game 3.

LAnselmo10 - It's cool. No harm no foul. But ya I have been doing some research on Braves jerseys for quite a while now. I've known for years that the Braves wore both Wilson and Rawling in the 90's. Before I bought the Justice jersey I made sure I could find some type of a match (because it was a pretty damn expensive jersey). I dont think i could have been anymore comfortable with the match as well as the source in which the jersey came from. Since this jersey now belongs to me I can share with the world who that source is...which is Bill Acree, traveling secretary for the Braves. not sure if Zane bought it directly from Bill but I have no reason not to trust Zane.

Would be nice to post a nice pic of the photomatch but its under powerpoint and i cant figure out how to attach the file. where's Kyle...?

The tape on the bottom of the blade easily can rip from contact with the ice. i have had a few ovechkins like this, once the tape starts to peel off the players will just pull that strip off.

Just in, a 2009 Gwinnett Braves Tommy Hanson Minor League Game Worn Jersey. Bought it from Pro-Am Sports for $150, which seamed like a deal, especially considering they want $400 for JoJo Reyes' jersey and $600 for Tim Hudson. Jersey is in good shape with a few small areas stained by pine tar. Can't photomatch it, but certainly style matched.

Just wanted to post a few photos of my latest acquisitions.

Josh Thole 2009 Rookie Catcher's Gear including mask, helmet, chest protector, shin guards and catcher's equipment bag. (Interesting note about the shin guards is that I photo matched them to a set the Brian Schneider used during the 2008 Final Season at Shea Stadium. Note the number 23 silk screened on the bottoms. I guess even major league ball players get 'hand-me-downs' sometimes.

Josh Thole 2009 Rookie Jerseys - First Home, Road and Black Jerseys as well as Spring Training BP jersey with number 78. Also 2009 GU Black and Blue Hat.

Nope. Everything is pretty much just in big boxes that you dig through. No dates, descriptions or anything. I figure its P Mac or Tony Jr because he stopped engraving the year on the under side of the bill after 2006. The hat is the main thing I want to know...Im really hoping its what I wanted.

Last year I didnt think they would throw an Adrian Gonzalez green helmet in with everything and I got one, so it wouldnt surprise me. they typically only hold back the jerseys and sometimes bats since they have names on them.

Really pleased with this 2007 Manny M9 I just got today. Awesome display of ball marks above the labeling and beautiful tar mixed with red Fenway clay. Matches up very well with my other pounded M9 from a few years earlier. Only difference is color of tar/mota/dirt.

I picked up two things this month the first is a Travis Denker batting helmet from the 2009 Pawtucket Red Sox season that is pounded with use that I have been able to photomatch as well. He is not a star but its a sweet piece that is loaded with use. The second was a Barry Bonds autographed photo I got a show this past weekend and after I bought it I took a closer look and realized its a very early Bonds signature from his rookie season-it has his rookie jersey number.

I was able to add this Alan Trammell bat to my collection and was able to make the deal locally (we connected through GUU). This is a nice Cooper bat and exhibits great use. I had planned to add a different 84 Tiger, but couldn't pass up this Trammell.

Today a Padres spring training, I had Aaron Poreda sign a BP jersey of his i got and FriarFest, and he decided to give me the glove that he was using today during practice....I didnt ask for it or anything...he signed the jersey, then said "here I got something else for you too" and grabbed it and handed it to me.

Hey everyone! I thought I would share my pickups for the last couple of months. Both items I was able to acquire from Andrew Lang...great guy and it's always a pleasure to deal with. The first picture is a pair of Adam Dunn cleats that I picked up last month for my birthday. The second picture is what I received in the mail today...a pair of Jordan Zimmermann cleats from his rookie year. I love both pairs of cleats, but the Zimmermann cleats show awesome wear and can't wait to put them next to my Ryan Zimmerman cleats. Enjoy!

Just picked up this 1973 game used ball from the Bristol Red Sox signed by the team featuring Jim Rice and Fred Lynn. 23 signatures in all including the manager. Got it from the son of one of the grounds keepers at Muzzy Field where they played.

Okay she may not be game used but she's definitely going to see a helluva lot of Yankees games over her lifetime (on tv, not causing a Cubs 'goatesque' incident at Yankee Stadium) Her name is Edie (after Edie Falco) I have been very unwell the past year and I almost died 4 weeks ago (scary thought at 23) but am getting a lot of help, particularly from my amazing Mom who I hate being separated from right now but we will soon be back together again. Over the year I had to unfortunately put on hold my passion of collecting game used items but seeing these pickup lists helped get me through the difficult times and with my acquisition of Edie, I'm back on the road to health and buying as much Yankees jerseys, bats, caps as soon as I can! So thanks to everyone who posts and runs this wonderful forum!
