Hi all!

I'm new to this forum and have been spending my free time trying to find out more about game-used jerseys.

I was wondering what you all thought of this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=140357209464&Category=60597&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D1

Apparently, the item will be accompanied with a certificate from MeiGray. I received a digital copy of the certificate, which includes a registration number that I assume I can call MeiGray to verify its authenticity.

Was wondering what you all thought about the price. Does this seem reasonable for a jersey of this vintage? Does the jersey look legit based on the pictures?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks all.

I figured. Any suggestions as to what you or anyone thinks that this is worth based on their experience?

The jersey is likely player-worn, but it is badly misidentified.

The Blue Jays didn't use BP jerseys (which this is) in 1977, and the Wilson tag is one that didn't apppear consistently until 1979.

I believe the Jays first used BP tops in 1981 (Rudy can correct me if my memory is off). This could be Willis' 1981 BP, or someone else from 1982 (I believe 1983s and after were strip tagged in the collar). It is definitely NOT an inaugural year item, however, and, as is, MIGHT be worth $200, and that would only be because of the scarcity of early 1980s Blue Jays items.

Hi vBallGuy,

Welcome to the Forum.

Wondering why you think the item will come with our LOA.
The ebay description does not say this, and we have never authenticated a 1977 Toronto Blue Jays jersey.

Please LMK if you misead the ebay listing, or were told by the seller that MeiGray has authenticated this jersey.

Clearly, we have not.

All the best, and Happy Holidays,

Barry

Hello all,

Thanks for the replies. I think coming on this forum was the best thing I ever did.

Barry, thanks for your reply. I was sent a .jpg of the certificate in question. I've posted on this forum for you to identify. It seems as though maybe this was forged or taken from another jersey for which your company issued a LOA. Either way, it is clear that this is a fake.

Hi everybody,

MGS No. 136985 is registered to a 1972-73 NHL Goal Puck scored by Darryl Sittler of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

I will reach out to the owner of that item to see what, if anything, he has to do with this error.

Hope this helps,

Barry

That guy accepts offers, there's been a few cases where his Jays jerseys in the past have been sold for substantially less cash. Most people wouldn't drop more than $250-$300 at most on this jersey.
