what is the reason for a museum selling items? are they closing? i would think this museum would be acquiring instead of selling off items.

The 5/30/2009 throwback/tribute jerseys in the auction were endowed to the musuem by the Royals and White Sox - as well as a few items directly from players. They were sold to raise money for funding the museum's ongoing operations and education programs.
