Can anybody help narrow down the date of this jersey. I know from the Rawlings tag it was used in the 1970-72 time frame. It appears to have had a year tag but is no longer present. It would be cool if it was one of the first knits or even from their World Series year. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Clint

From the tagging and the fact that it's a knit, makes your guess of 70-72 on point.
Gene Clines wore #15 throughout these early knit years (I'm sure you already researched this). Cool shirt!

Great jersey - In 1973, the Pirates wore the Clemente patch on their jerseys so unless there is a outline on the sleeve, 1973 is out.

I have an Al Oliver with the same tagging, no way to date for sure but I've always thought it had to be 70, 71, or 72. Let me know if you're sellin'!!!!

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm actually an Orioles fan but am trying to get a jersey from from all of the teams from my childhood. I might try a World Series style subset of knits for the 71, 79, and 83 teams. I've got the Orioles and Pirates from 71 now.

Aeneas, I know what you mean by hard times. I sure miss the 70's and early 80's.

Genius, if I sell I'll let you know. Would like to see the Oliver if you can post it.

I have a 1972 jersey which was recycled for the 73 season and features a different Rawlings tag plus no wash instructions, so I am pretty confident that you can rule out 1972, obviously leaving either 1970 or 71.
