I'm pursuing a Mizuno Rose bat. It's the black PR 4192. I noticed that Lelands and a few auction houses have sold these black Mizuno gamers of Sir Pete, but they ranged in length from 33 inches to 34 inches long. 31 to 32 ounces. Anybody know if these specs sound right? The one I'm pursuing is 33 and 3/4 inches long. Thanks for the help.

Hi Greg-- the few orders of H & B bats for Rose during that time period were 34 in / 32 oz , 34.5 / 32 , and 35 / 32.
MikeIn the earlier 1980s there are some documented orders of 34 inches, and even a few bats at 33.5 inches.

Yea, I saw that on an old post, but I searched every auction house that has sold his black 1985 and 86 Mizunos and all were between 33-34 inches long. Didn't see any longer than that. Saw three different types of knobs on those bats too. Those bats included the 100k corked bat that Golden Palace bought. That bat matches up perfectly with the one I'm pursuing. Same knob type and 33 and 3/4 inches long. Thanks Mike. Any more info would be appreciated.

Actually, searched a little more, and found two more. Both were 34 inches and 31/32 ounces. There was one on Lelands that was 33 inches long-but that was an exception. Seems pretty short. So from my research, so far, it seems most of his 85 and 86 mizunos were right around 34 inches long and 32 ounces. Some knobless, some with normal knobs, and some with with a hornsby type rounded knob. Some shaved on barrel-some not. 3 to 6 inches of tape in the middle of barrel. 5 to 6 rings taped (seen two different types of tape) on handle for grip. I found this statement in his countdown to Cobb book written in 1985: My bats this year have a black finish, with PR-4192 on them. When I get a new bat, I put some tape grips on the handle, then sand the paint off the barrel. I clean the bat with rubbing alcohol so that when I take batting practice, I can check the smudges on the bat to see where the ball is hitting it.....Rose also stated that his bats were printed with 3631, 4000 and then 4192. After he broke the record, I'm thinking in 1986, some of his bats had ATHL. Thought you Rose collectors might find this interesting. I did. This is a picture of the 100k corked bat.

Anybody that has any more information on Rose Mizuno black bats from 85-85 please let us know. Something I didn't mention was the knob usually has a small stamped A on it that stands for Ash wood. I haven't seen a real game used one without quite a bit of pine tar too. Anything I'm missing? Thanks guys. I picked up a nice one. If I ever get pictures taken, I'll put em on here.
Thanks.

I realize Pete would have some numbers regarding the hit achievements on his bats, did he do that while on his way to obtaining those achievements or not until after each milestone was set?
For example only putting ATHL on after breaking the record? Would he have put PR 4000 on his bats while getting to 4000 or once he had surpased that?

This is a picture of the 100k corked bat.

Does anyone know what happened to that bat? I think I saw it being sold again recently, and not sawed in half as Golden Palace said they intended to do.
