Pistol Pete Maravich.

I've seen lots of fine and exciting hoop players over the past half century, but I've never seen anything close to what I witnessed on February 17, 1968, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and again on February 7, 1970. I won't even begin to try to explain what I saw as there are no words that can adequately do justice.

That I was able to actually watch:

1) Karl Malone
2) Christian Laettner
3) Michael Jordan
4) Dennis Scott
5) Richard Dumas / Acie Earl

Odd list, I know. But that really is who I enjoyed watching. There are other old time guys and current players that I like following, but the ones listed are the ones I grew up cheering for.

LOVED watching 3D as well! That whole Orlando Magic 9 man rotation was pretty entertaining to watch, but 3D was definitely a thrill to watch!

1. Michael Jordan, best I ever saw. The best in my mind who ever played.

2. Karl "The Mailman" Malone, always played hard.

3. Larry Bird, made it look easy. It never seemed like you noticed him
scoring the 30 points but it was there.

4. Dr. J, poetry in motion.

5. Tim Duncan, like Bird he makes it look easy. Smooth as silk.

I will be honest, I don't care much for NBA anymore. Too many walks, hard fouls that are not called, grabbing, pushing, etc.... The NBA used to be a game with rules in place that made it easy on the eyes, like a dance almost.

Now you have what looks like a bunch of thugs trying to kill each other and the rules are loosely enforced.
Looks more like a fight than a sport.
And to be honest the "Lets see how many tatoos I can put on my body" syndrome has turned me off as well.

I too don't watch, nor view, the NBA in the same way I did when I was in my late teens and early 20's. I always believed that the professionals should play the game the way it was intended...and that includes following ALL of the rules. Young kids do a better job at playing by the rules than many of the NBAers. I am so sick of seeing continuation fouls...dunks where 3+ steps are not only viewed as acceptable but rather encouraged...obvious charging fouls going against the defender. I am so sick of "floppers" in the game...Dwayne Wade and Manu Ginobili. I loved watching Wade, but his flopping in the finals just made me sick!!!!

Our family is watching the NBA draft tonight...I am tired of watching them draft player after player and we all ask in unison "Who is that". It is the rare player that has no problem going to the NBA after 1 season and an even rarer one that can bring a fan base with him. I miss the days of following guys for an entire 4 year NCAA career and then anxiously awaiting where they will go in the draft.
