need help dating a yankee batting helmet

i could use some help dating this new york yankee batting helmet. it is size 7 1/4 number 45 removed from the bill. i am showing the date code in a photo. i am reading this right showing it from 1998? number 45 would make it chili davis. any thoughts/help/opinions please let me know

Well first you want to get to know the helmet. Keep good eye contact. Talk to the helmet, be a good listener and when the time is right pop the question and ask the helmet out to dinner lol lol

On a serious note. I am not sure about the dating wheel code on helmets, but very common a helmet can remain with the equipment for a few years before even being used.
So for example if the helmet dates to 1998, it could of been used in 2000.
