Anyone have thoughts on the Fox Sports report that the former running back is going into 12 weeks of training for MMA and has signed a fight contract for matches? This may not be as crazy as it seems, as Walker holds a 5th degree black belt in tae kwon do according to the article. Of course, he's no kid anymore, either. Still, any thoughts or clever photo-shops or emoticons (that means YOU, Warren and Steve) in response to this intriguing sports development?

I'm a boxing fan - and though I like some aspects of MMA, this is one that I don't agree with.

I know Hersch has a 5th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do - but he's still 47. He's never been in an MMA ring before, and it's likely only for the money. He's going to get hurt if he's in with elite competitors.

MMA gets a bad rap from this kind of stuff...it's pure show business.

While I respect Walker for wanting to compete, there is no way in hell that he should be getting a contract with one of the bigger promotion companies based solely on his name and what he has accomplished in a sport that has nothing to do with fighting. Hopefully they put him in there with tomato can so he doesn't get hurt. Even if he fights a halfway decent journeyman, he could end up getting hurt badly....
