This game ready Dustin Pedroia bat just ended on ebay a week or so ago and today it shows up under a different seller with ball marks/game use.

Also the seller of the forged bat "dmustaine4266", if you look at his past auction wins, just purchased some pine tar and also won a Pedroia blonde bat, so be careful guys, that may be on the market next!

In no way am i and expert and usually dont like to throw my two sense out there...but this bat was just offered to me off the forum through email. It took a very long time for the seller to get the pics over to me so perhaps he was doing all that was mentioned in the first post. It was offered to me a very low price for what Pedroia generally go for so my skepticism was immediately turned on. I obviously turned it done, do the no use on it and the characteristics didnt look like a typically pedroia gamer. Maybe i am jumping to conclusions but just wanted to throw that out there as well.

Considering he has the word pounded on it make me skeptical as well usually the word Dustin Pedroia and game used will make anyone jump at it.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me why dmustaine4266would alter a bat that already had pine tar on it and, to me, showed use. Too bad the first seller didn't post better photos of the barrel.

some pictures of the tar on the blonde perdoia i was offered as well...pictures of the use on a Pedroia I own and the tar situation....kinda hard to hide from the fact that he did just purchase pine tar and a game bat. Hopefully he will see this threaded and explain what is going on here.

Mike,

Do you have more photos of the blonde Pedroia bat that he sent you?

Here's the link to the unused Pedroia blonde bat he won on eBay:

It's obvious in the description and pics of the bat that it was listed by the first seller as a game ready bat, so the pine tar may have already been on the bat, but the ballmarks were definitely not on the orginal bat.

Also, looking at the blonde Pedroia bat he tried to sell to Mike, that pine tar may have been applied from that bottle of pine tar he bough off of eBay. I handled a few Pedroia bat this year and that application of tar is suspicious.

Kinda OT but it is it weird that I knew that the blonde bat shown was an S318 Model bat just by seeing the knob in the second picture?

Looks like the blonde M9 bat "dmustaine4266" tried to sell Mike was forged as well.

Pictures dont lie.....the rack marks and maple grain line up perfectly and check out those weak seam marks that hardly dented the maple barrel, most likely from a 30mph pitch and 30mph swing:D

Looks like a smoking gun photomatch by Bobby. Nice work.

Doesn't doctoring a Pedroia bat somehow seem more unwholesome than doctoring a Bonds or Sosa bat? Dunno.

Looks like the two bidders on the bat read this thread and pulled out. Bat is at it's original starting price of .99 cents

Bobby,

Thanks for your outstanding contribution to the site as well as to the hobby. This is the kind of evidence that is nearly impossible to dispute and helps protect us all from bogus stuff put into the market place. Another nice catch!

John,

Thanks for the kind words. I also want to thank fellow forum member Mike for coming forward with the photos of the bat. This site is valuable resource for all collectors and I'm glad we all look out for each other like family.

Thank you,

Bobby
