noted blue jays expert lou lampson strikes again. in this "labor of love" lou fails to recognize that the team wordmark on the front of the jersey is an incorrect and poorly made homemade version. (check out the "E"). anyway, on wilson jerseys from 1977-1989, the "BLUE JAYS" wordmark had hard, square edges to the letters, most notably seen on the edges of the "U", "E", "J". starting in 1990, they had much softer, rounded edges. so this 1987 george bell jersey has a team wordmark that made its first apperance in 1990. and the additional screwup on the "E" is just icing on the cake.

there's a similarly-botched 1987 fred mcgriff shirt out there suffering from the same incorrect team wordmark. it was previously sold by both GFC and Historic. (lou strikes twice).

anyway, here's a 1986 george bell gamer auctioned off by lelands with the correct team wordmark:

i know lou's "just giving an opinion" but if it's an opinion without any research or evidence or anything to back it up, then what good is it?

LMAO... Exactly Rudy, it means SQUAT! Lou "letter of death" Lampson strikes again. Just another reason why I still have NO CLUE why anyone uses this individual for "authentication" purposes.

Rudy-

Not only is the shirt a complete train wreck, but the embroidered tag is just as bad! Not only was it not done with incorrect embroidery style, but the info is not standard for a 1987 jersey either. 2 digits? Compare to your other 1987 tag in your post.

As long as the auction houses are willing to pay Lampson his flat rate fee, and collectors are willing to accept his findings, I'm sure he'll continue to pump out these worthless letters of opinion.

I don't know which is a worse representation...the BLUE JAYS lettering or the bogus strip tag. Leave it to Lou to miss 'em both!
