Brian,

Can you please share with us how many 2000 World Series bats and what model number were produced for Mike Piazza?

Thanks

Bump with photo.

I just got this bat today.

Brian would you know how many of these were produced for Mike?

Thanks

I thought about bidding on it, but passed because all the photos showed Mike using Mizuno's during the world series.

He didn't use this bat in the series nor use HBs during his tenure with the Mets or later Dodger years. Piazza only used HBs during his rookie season and early Dodger years before switching exclusively to Mizunos for games.

This is definitely a game issued bat.

Never knew he only used H&B in his rookie and early dodger days.

I dont understand why a company would make a dozen of something they're 99% sure noone is ever going to use. It's not like he's going to switch to LS for the most important games of the year after using Mizuno all year.

That's an excellent point.

Brian are these model R221s a regular game model bat which would have been produced for Mike for use during the regular season. I know he's used C243 model bats in the past and this is the first time I've seen a R221.

Given the quantity and model number is this bat considered a souvenir model or trophy bat?

Hmm, I made a mistake. He was given 3 bats for the WS on 10/17/00. The dozen was a winter order on 11/17/00...I really need to have my eyes checked. A dozen did seem like a lot, but then again I've seen some guys order a ton of bats for the WS.

I also need to quit hitting the enter button. He ordered the R221 all through 1999 & 2000. It was the last model he ordered from us.

The one I have has bat rack marks on it so I'm hoping it was from the 10/17/00 order and was in the rack during the Series.

Thanks the info and for confirming the model number too!

It would have to be from that order. The dozen would not have WS on them as the third line.

It's clear now. There were only 3 World Series bats made and the other dozen were regular game model bats (NEW YORK METS as the stamped 3rd line).

Thanks!
