Hello all you jersey guys, I have a question. Grey Flannel has a 1991-2 GW jersey in their current auction:

I have a McHale gamer from the same year, also away. All the tagging is the same, but mine is size 46, not 48. Would it be customary for a player to use 2 different sizes in one season? When I got mine, I asked all around and was told everything looked good.

For those of you who also have McHale jerseys, what size are they?

Thanks, Ken

I don't know, but have the same question as you. Not sure if it's related, but I know several board members and threads here in the past have said with respect to 91-92 Bird jerseys that there's tons of fakes from that year around. Almost every one of them in see on Ebay or auction houses are from that year, so makes you wonder why so many available.
Because the same two sizes 46/48 are on these Bird jerseys too from that year and I think it's because he went to a bigger size later in '92 because of his back/brace.

Not saying it relates to the McHale, but again, just odd that it's the same "plentiful" year as other Celtic jerseys and also two size tags for the same season.. Hmmm

Not sure how NBA jerseys are sized, but for reference, here is me w/ McHale from a couple of years ago when he was in Denver while I was chasing autos from the Marlins.

He may not have been quite as big at the time that the GU Jersey in question is from, but I'm wearing a Size 50 marlins jersey in the photo.

Early in his career-size 44. Mid to late career-46. End of career you'll see some 48s. Shouldn't be a problem. He was tall but very skinny.

This matches my notes. I had a McHale from 1990-1991 that was a size 48 and came from someone with the Celts. I still regret selling it (if the buyer is reading this and wants to sell it back, email me!) as I think I could finally photomatch it. I have him down for size 48 starting some time in 1990 - perhaps between seasons. Size 46 for these years isn't out of the question, though.

Found some old pics, and my last McHale was a 46 +3". It was obtained from the team and was autographed by Kevin. It is an early season jersey as it didn't have the Johnny Most patch.
The Celtics auction was before Xmas that year, Johnny passed away in early January.

FYI, I'm interested in the this jersey and remembered this thread a couple weeks ago, but now I'm having some doubts.
NBA logo on left side is too low IMO on the GF jersey, than when compared with Getty's 91-92 road McHale pics:

I think there needs to be more space between the neck line and the CELTICS area too. 90-91 was less space. 91-92 more space. This looks somewhere in between the two.
