Hey everyone,

I recently purchased a Chris Doleman University of Pittsburgh Game-Worn jersey from the 1982 Sugar Bowl. I am not as familiar with NCAA jerseys as I am with NFL gamers so I figured I'd ask those who might be more familiar with these kinds of items.

There were a few things I noticed that I wasn't to familiar with.

First of all from what I've been able to look up, Chris Doleman played for Pittsburgh from 1982 to 1984. Even though the Sugar Bowl was in 1982, it was during Pittsburgh's 1981 season. I do not know if Doleman was a redshirt during 1981 or not.

I have compared the jersey style to that of what Dan Marino wore during the 1982 Sugar Bowl and you can tell me what you think...

You can also view a video from the 1982 Sugar Bowl on YouTube here...

I noticed in the video that some players such as Dan Marino, have no yellow-trim around any of the numbers on their jerseys. Then there were others who had yellow-trim around all of the numbers (front, back, & shoulders).

This Doleman jersey does not have the trim on the front and back numbers (which appears to match Marino's jersey) but does on the shoulder numbers (which appears to match other players in the video).

I even noticed that one player in the video didn't even have a name-plate on his jersey and you can see him after the TD reception. So I'm not sure how strict Pittsburgh was in making sure that everyone had the exact same style jersey.

I could not find any pictures of Doleman during his college days, let alone this specific game so this has been the best I've had to work with so far.

What I can tell is that the jersey style does appear to look correct. The Sugar Bowl patches appear to match the patches on Marino's jersey during that same game (you can see it at 0:18 into the YouTube video).

My task is to find out exactly what I have, and how much it might be worth.

Is is a Game-Worn jersey, a Team-Issued jersey, something else?

Any advice any of you guys might have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much :)
