For a championship season, this one seems a little low - but I am not a jersey person...which is why I am asking for some help. Also, I don't like the fact that he does not take returns. That throws up another flag.

Some searching on this eBay ID yielded some interesting results, which I will let you all search if you are interested...makes for an interesting case study.

The fact that the seller chose to hang it outside on his laundry rig would be a major turn off for me as a prospective buyer.

Im not saying its real or fake, but I wouldnt lose sleep over it. I would NEVER buy anything from that seller if my life depended on it!! He's a thief!

Try to ask him questions about an item and his story changes depending on who he talks to.

Heres a few old threads....

I agree...$499 for Uke, even if NOB is removed, is awfully low. I'll have to check the jersey out on eBay tomorrow and post here if I see any flaws

The jersey is in deplorable condition. It appears to have stains all over the back side, almost as if he used it to wipe off the rims of his tractor.

It also has a bunch of holes, maybe moth? That happens, as these older jerseys are made of wool and the little critters LOVE that material.....

The point being, this dude didn't take very good care of this jersey. What a shame, as a baseball fan who wouldn't want a 'gamer' from the guy who claims "I must be in the front row!"?

The seller ended the auction.

Maybe the old tractor needed a good "rim polishing" again?

The auction ended with a buy it now. So, technically it wasn't ended early.
Also, who knows what condition the jersey was in, when obtained by the seller? Who knows, maybe he bought it off the ground at some flea market or swap meet?

I am familiar with this jersey... saw it in person when it was owned by a local collector. I was all excited about possibly buying a '64 Cards flannel, but the excitement faded when I saw it. The condition is the same now as it was before. The previous owner believed it to be a Uecker jersey, but there is no evidence it ever had a NOB or chain stitching in the tail. The numbers also were unusually minty for such a hammered, moth-eaten shirt. I know he listed it on eBay at least once after I saw it. I sent him an e-mail yesterday asking how the jersey ended up in the hands of one of eBay's biggest crooks. Still waiting for a reply.

I saw the auction when it was still active and what caught my eye were two issues;

1) in 1964, didn't the Cardinals embroider the player's name on the tail of their jerseys either above or below the Rawlings tag?
2) in 1964, didn't the Cardinals have NOB of their jerseys.

The seller didn't mention that there were remnants from either the tail embroidery or NOB being removed. I emailed the seller but he never got back to me probably because the jersey sold so fast.

Sorry Jeff - looks like we were composing our threads about the same time.

I'd have rather had a Uecker event worn Blazer worn on Mr. Belvedere.

Very interesting. The auction ended with a buy-it-now twice today: first at 11:25AM EST and then again at 7:41PM:

Jeff,

Noticed that too right off the bat, but was so disinterested in the jersey based on it's presentability, I didn't even bother to comment.

At the very least, those numbers are refurbished (replaced) because they don't have the same wear/aging as the rest of this fine piece....IMO.

TNT......That's easy to explain......

His "buddy" who was asked to place a shill bid on the jersey wasn't smart enough to just place a bid......no......the guy, just out of the barn from finishing his day with the milking machines, accidentally hit the "Buy it Now" button.....So Tim-Bo had to reload, cancel the "buy" by his friend, and have him try it again.

I'm not going to type "IMO" on this one because I don't thin there are high odds I'll be receiving a cease & desist letter from Tim, ebay's finest.

I talked to a previous owner of the jersey. He said he sold it on eBay a while back for $475 BIN. He thought the buyer was in Ohio, but couldn't remember for sure. He was surprised to see it offered by our buddy in Virginia. Whatever the case, assuming Tim paid shipping to receive the jersey... then paid eBay and PayPal fees to sell the jersey... it looks like he took a small loss on this one. Does my heart good.
