To narrow it down further, not counting BPs, the only Russell Braves gamers in that time span were road greys from 1993-1997. Most of those, as I recall, carried no year or tail strip tagging, but anyone who has pics that show othwerwise, I would be happy to see 'em, too

The Liebrandt is a BP jersey, and the tagging brings back mental notes of a couple of other '91 Braves BPs I've seen which were tagged identically. While Russell didn't get the MLB contract until 1992 (and didn't make Barves road gamers until 1993), they did do some 1991 Atlanta BPs, and also as a few test jerseys of game style construct in '91 for several teams, as well (The Twins Gift Shop had, over 15 years ago, a Russell-made 1991 Twins shirt of Jack Morris that, based on their explanation, fell under this description).

after some research, i cant really find anything that seperates Russell game jerseys from regular issued or retail jerseys except mabye if the jerseys look like theyve been washed. even then, its easy to just stick a retail or issued jersey in the washer a few times to give it that look. am i right? or is there any other info that i need?

I was told by a very knowledgable forum member to look at the interior stitching of the jersey and that will help separate a game jersey from a retail jersey. If I remember correctly Russell game jerseys should have one solid color stitch on the back numbers and nameplate where as the retail jerseys have a 3 stitch color scheme or something close to that.

I have a '97 Braves road jersey that I will try to post pics of later on tonight.

That is also good to know. I dont have a Braves jersey with me to look at so would it be possible for you to show an example of the interior stitching as well? Thanks!

Nice photo, and looks to be 100% correct. Which player's jersey was this?

Thanks for posting the photo,

Mercker. I'm hoping to pick this up soon. I sent the seller an email. Havent recieved anything back yet though. But I have to say this is really unusual in the amount of Braves jerseys I've seen over the last week while doing my research. This 93 jersey is the only one ive seen from that year, so im hoping to find more. But looks like this may be the only year the braves had a year flag on their gu Russell jerseys. Havent seen anything else.

murfsteve25,
Not sure if you are still interested but here go pics of the tagging from a '97 Braves jersey I have and the interior stitching. Sorry it took me so long to post them.

Thanks for posting. I'll have to check my jerseys to see how they match up. So if there is no tail tagging, is this the only way to seperate the jerseys that are at least issued vs. retail?

Not sure if that's the only way to separate issued from retail from this era but it should be a good indicator.
