Current offering in the SCP auction, "1981 game worn road George Brett jersey":

23535

Note the simply pathetic fabrication of the 81 year tag. I have taken the liberty of comparing a real Wilson 1981 year tag (shown on a Phillies jersey, just note the 81) with the fake 81 tag on the Brett. The 81 on the right is the fake Brett. As most collectors who are familiar with Wilson tagging are aware, the 1 should simply be made with a single vertical line, no tail on top or bottom.

This information has been passed onto the folks at SCP.

Howard, I agree that 1 is different than my examples. I also think the 8 looks completely different than any I've seen. Here's a few from a couple of Orioles jerseys and a Royals jersey. That's a stray thread on the 1 of the Royals jersey, not a hook.

Guys:

You definitely caught a major tagging flaw there...nice work.

the brett tag seems the same as the collar tag and tail tag on this one:

Just noticed today while scanning the SCP auction that both George Brett jersey lots 581 & 582 have been removed.

Good work guys! :)

Why was the Tony Gwynn jersey ended, it matched up perfect with a photo from the game it was supposed to be from.

The Gwynn may have been pulled for just the reason that you mentioned. Once someone matched it up with a photo, the consignor may have asked to have it removed. I'm not sure if the auction houses allow for this, but it is a possibility.
