Has anybody used the following jersey cases? I am interested in both, but I was wondering what you guys thought about the protection each offers to the jersey.

http://www.homeplateheroes.com/JERSEY.html

Does the hanger on the first option ruin the jersey sleeves?

http://www.goinprosports.com/pc-14234-405-baseball-locker-room-display-cabinet.aspx

Does the jersey on the second option hang too low so the bottom of it becomes wrinkled?

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot offer you any opinion on the ones you listed, but for that price you can do much better.

Here's one I picked up for $30 at Wally World......

Did you put the glass in that case yourself? I haven't seen anything like that at my Walmart.

It is a 5 shelf, black oak bookcase. I left out 2 shelves for the jersey area. I ripped down one shelf to 2" wide for a valance at the very top to hide the puck lights, which I added myself.

I got the plexiglass at Home Depot, cut it down to size, and used velcro strips to attach it to the bookcase. You can use screws but you have to have a drill/screwdriver handy every time you mess with it.

All said and done, I did 2 of these exact displays for under $100, w/ glass & lights.

Check out www.JerseyPro.com (http://www.JerseyPro.com) in Baltimore. Their cases are fantastic. The website photos aren't great, but they are amazing in person and the jerseys hang freely on solid wood hangars.

TriplexXxSports, thanks for the reply and the link. Great job on the cases!

This is probably the best option for me. Where I live it's very hard to find a place that sell display cases of any kind. The only ones I see are usually for golfballs.

thanks

I would concur with Andrew's comments on Jersey Pro. Although the price can't compete with a due it yourself project, at $250 or so each, they are by far the least expensive jersey cases I have seen that are of any quality. The good thing is, they are of exceptional quality. I couldn't be happier with mine.

Any thoughts on the original cases I showed you? I am looking for a locker-style display case, and I am not up to a do it yourself project from Walmart.

I kind of like putting the jersey on a mannequin inside the case.

Although they're a little pricey you can try these since you'd rather a pre-assembled locker style case instead of a do it yourself project.

I get all of my mannequins from an eBay seller. Here's a link: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Easy-Discount-Displays__W0QQ_armrsZ1

I get the black male 3/4 hercules for all my displays. They fit most jerseys very well and they are full form, not a hollow back.

For the lights I bought the 5 pack of under cabinet puck lights from Home Depot. They are all connected to a central dimmer switch that is included. All I did is drilled a 1" hole in the top of the cabinet for each light to run the wires through, then mounted the lights to cover the holes. These lights are pre-wired so all you have to do is plug them into the dimmer, and plug the dimmer switch into the wall. SUPER EASY! SUPER CHEAP!
