I Don't Get It! - Why Is He Getting So Much Positive Publicity?

ESPN is going to cover each of Manny's at bats during his minor league games.

Give me a break! Who cares!

Not seriously. Honest? That's crazy.

Probably the same reason why they have made such a big deal of doing Sportscenter from LA. Instead of being a whore for all things east coast, they decided they wanted to be bi-coastal.

Arod = Manny. One and the same. Both cheaters, both dopers. They both get too much publicity.

Even as an Arod fan, I agree!

Unfortunately, we now live in a culture that glorifies cheater's, thiefs and crooks and ignore real heroes.

Just like all of the "John and Kate plus 8" garbage. People love a good train wreck, and the more lives it ruins the more fascinating it is to the masses.

I still can't believe the positive hype Manny is getting. This guy tested positive after the new drug policy was put in place. During! Not before! During!

I just don't get it

I know Arod.

When A-rod's name came out everyone trashed him about taking them, but when Manny is caught it seems like no one really cares. Peter Gammons still thinks he's the greatest hitter ever, what a joke!

Agree! With not even comparing Arod and Manning, it's ridiculous he or anyone else would be praised and getting the positive hype he is getting. He tested positive while the new drug testing system was in place...period! And to top it off, he refuses to discuss it.

Makes me sick!

If Manny played for Kansas City, Peter Gammons would have never heard of him

It's not "positive publicity. It's ESPN doing its job. Ramirez is a big story and his return from the suspension is why. Had he broken an ankle, you wouldn't see the wall-to-wall coverage. He's coming back in time for the pennant race under a lot of pressure. How he responds from the layoff and deals with the PED issue is a big story and will be for the remainder of his career.

Manny just hit a HR. They did a split screen on tv for his at bat.

Give me a freakin break! It's not like he just came back from an injury.

What's not to get? A high profile player with a highly publicized suspension coming back...what about this does not say "news story". Just like most news stories, the media will beat it to death until another news story comes along (i.e. Steve McNair R.I.P.) and then life will go on as usual. They did the same thing with Arod, Farve, Michael Jackson and will continue to do it for people you either like or don't like. Most of you people have been around long enough to know this is nothing new. Personally, I'm a Dodger fan and I'm sick of it too but it is what it is and just ride it out ;)

...and go Dodgers!! :D

I was at Dodger Stadium that last Wednesday night when the Dodgers were playing the Nationals.....in the hopes of catching (but most likely attempting to buy from the fan that did catch) this exact homerun ball.

It's his career #534, and ties him with one of my all-time favorite players, Jimmie Foxx.

I know this is a leap.........but if anyone ever comes into contact with the person who ended up with that ball, please put him in contact with me. I want that ball, and will pay handsomely for it.

$100 finders fee if that happens.....but I hope the fan who caught it gets some kind of proof.....maybe is seen on TV via video, or hopefully the MLB authenticator at the game places a sticker on it.

Knowing the Dodger organization, maybe they escorted the guy back to a private office and are offering him something for the ball.....but I'm not sure, because it didn't take place at Dodger Stadium.

Oops....I didn't finish my first thought.

That Wednesday night was the night before that Thursday morning they announced Manny's 50-game suspension. So now he's back, and on the road, and hit the home run I wanted so badly.

Such is life.

The promise stands....

If ANYONE can get me in touch with the guy, I will pay a $100.00 finders fee, no questions asked, if I can consumate a deal with the guy.

And trust me, if you get me in contact with him, it will be a done deal. NO ONE would pay him more for that particular home run ball than I would.

Thanks,

Steve
