Not sure why the word on the street is so negative about American Memorabilia?

Just take a look at their current auction and the simply breath taking assortment of 9 total game used baseball items!

If you're seeking a Matsuhama jersey or a Hisho Japanese League button-down, this is the auction for you!

http://www.americanmemorabilia.com/Auction_Item.asp?Auction_ID=48088&auccat=Baseball%20Game-Used

Game used basketabll equipment? Included in the 5 total items offered are an amazing pair of Lonnie Shelton Spot Bilt sneakers.

http://www.americanmemorabilia.com/Auction_Item.asp?Auction_ID=47862&auccat=Basketball%20Game-Used

I was prepared to bid on the extremely rare Slavery Bracelt, but I'm having a tough time trying to photo match it:

http://www.americanmemorabilia.com/Auction_Item.asp?Auction_ID=14746&auccat=Miscellaneous

Likewise, I'm waiting for Lampson and his the 100% Authentic Team to possibly provide a bit more insight besides the information listed in the description, "This bracelet was used for slave identification. It has a flower motif as the background. There is no name engraved".

Let the bidding begin!

Since AMI is based out of Vegas, does anybody know if there is a current betting line on how much longer this charade will go on before the lights get turned out at AMI once and for all?

QUICK. Hurry up and send them your consignments before they go under so those consignors on the bottom of this ponzi scheme can get paid. But I really cannot take credit for this idea though. It came from another Forum member. Bidding on anything in the current AMI auction, Suicide Squeeze? Once Again, What I believe you are seeing is the power of this Forum in action.

You completely missed essentially ALL of the meaning in my posts you are referring to, sarahsdad.

And I think it's fairly evident to all what your intentions are in regards to me.

Bait.

Attack.

Insult.

I guess I really got under your skin somewhere along the line. I hope you can reach down deep and gain the maturity to get over it.

In the meantime.....for the third time, why not go back to the previous AMI thread and reread the posts. Maybe you'll pick up on some of the subtle suggestions. Maybe you'll understand I only ......maybe.... possibly bid on one, rarely but maybe two items of their a YEAR. Maybe you will see that I care more about the fellow forum members actually getting their money back, while all you appear to care about is shoving your moral ethicacy down everyone's throats while you push to have AMI's doors closed immediately.

Or, maybe you won't.

Suicide, quick question, I see what you are getting at I think, however doesn't this idea of yours just continue to rob Peter to pay Paul so to speak. Even if these guys can keep the doors open say another 18 months using this current scheme of theirs, if they are so far in debt, I highly doubt that they are going to be in any hurry to pay anybody but perhaps the few remaining fools that continue to consign to them that they know have really high end memorabilia so that they can keep the flow moving. What I don't understand is how and when anybody will ever really get caught up payment wise. If anything my concern would be that they will just continue to spiral downhill to the point where nobody will ever get paid and when the funnel runs dry as it quickly appears to be happening they will just shut down. In the meantime they will just continue to accept consignments and use the auction proceeds to keep Victor buying his Lamborghini's and Ferrari's and other exciting things like that.

Brett,

Thank you for the intelligent question(s).

The beauty in them staying around is twofold.

One, it gives the legit consigners time for their attorney(s) to do whatever they can do to attach/tie up/secure/lein/etc. any items possibly listed out there as assets of AMI so that these poor souls that have been left holding fairly large empty bags can recoup their money. Hopefully that would include any outstanding auction winning from unpaid buyers. As they say, the squeaky wheel gets the oil. In this case, the ones who seeked out legal help first may just end up getting restitution fastest (first).

The other thing is, and what I was trying to allude to, is if they are able to somehow get over this (what we all would hope to be is referred to as "short term") cash flow/profit crunch due to the bad economy or otherwise (not taking care of the business properly in regards to paying the people who supplied them with their lifeblood......consignments.....), then maybe the ones left holding a bag if any, would be the "suppliers" of items to them furthest associated from us "real folks" in the collecting hobby.

And quite frankly, if it's not collector consigners, but companies or individuals in this auction game strickly to make a buck......who really cares what they end up with in their hands?

Again, I wasn't trying to be so literal, as I don't really care to add to the list of people who don't like my comments about their poorly run business and practices....but I do appreciate that there are a few of you out there who can understand the concept as being in the best interest of the hobby consigners.

Too bad others here just have another agenda, and muck up the message with personal issues.

Take care Brett,

Steve

Thanks Steve, I too hope that these people can get their money. It is really sad but I too would not be shocked if they do not, in fact this story for many probably will not have a very happy ending.

Brett,

Just to finish my thought, which after reading what I just typed, I really don't feel I did, let me add this.....

IF AMI is successful in getting through this tough period they are in.....as unlikely as it may seem......and they do somehow eventually pay off all of the consigners owed money right now, it may be conceivable that they could offer lower consignment rates to get back some of the consigners who have pulled the plug on them because of the lack of payment we all see (her about) today.

One thing is for sure: If they are just slammed cold turkey by everyone and no more bids are placed on any of their items, no matter where their items are coming from, the quality or quantity of the items offered, etc., it's game over for consigners because there would be no chance of ever hoping to get paid.

If I was owed $1,000 + by an individual or company, I would personally fly and use what I learned in the Marines to take care of business. I think it is bull**** that they can continue doing day to day business. Maybe if they would quit "enjoying the finer things in life", they could pay the consigners what there owed. Kieta liked to give the impression that they were high class, high flyers, but in reality they were not. They need to get back to real life and get their s***t together. Pay the people you owe, and try to fix your crumbling company. The name is tarnished already, so I don't think the auction business is for them anymore......or any business.

Maybe they can make some more crappy ass videos... or file for unemployment

AMI has just listed their new items for their current auction.

The offerings consist of:

Game used baseball:
7 bats
4 jerseys (including this 1974 "mystery" Stars jersey. No mention of any type of Lampson LOA, so I'm a little uncomfortable bidding on such an item void of his expert evaluation!)
http://www.americanmemorabilia.com/Auction_Item.asp?Auction_ID=49488&auccat=Baseball%20Game-Used
6 misc. items
1 Yankees bunting

Game used basketball:
5 pairs of worn sneakers

With such an astounding assortment of quality game used items being offered, why do collectors continue to speculate that AMI is in trouble?

Howard:

Based on their current assortment of fine items, do we take this to mean that the slavery braclet from the last auction sold as I know there were questions about the authenticity of this item since it did not have a Lampson LOA with any detail. Additionally, I noticed that the following high quality items that you pointed out from their previous auction are missing in this auctions, Matsuhama jersey or a Hisho Japanese League button-down to name a few. I knew I should have jumped on those items during the last auction as they are surely in high demand.

On another note Vic Moreno assured me via email last week that all those nasty rumors of AMI's demise are greatly exaggerated. With fine offerings such as those in their current auction, there is no doubt in my mind that AMI is quite obviously the most powerful player in the sports auction industry.

Brett-

Forget about the slavery bracelet, I'm more interested learning about lot #16 (exact description from the AMI listing):

1974 Blues "Shooting Star" Game-Used Minor League Jersey (Chenille Embroidery on Front)

This is the mother of all minor league jerseys. Offered is a 1974 Blues "shooting stars" jersey with the famous chenille configuration on front. The zip-up shows decent wear and has "BLUES" affixed below the team insignia on front. A Wilson size "46" label is sewn in the collar. A year swatch occupies the tail.

__________________________________________________ _____________
Beside the fact that there is no photo of this "mother of all minor league jerseys", what in the world is it??????

Possibly a vintage Perryville Stars softball team jersey?

Maybe it's one of the classic Bellevue Stars jerseys worn by the 8 year old boys?

I can tell you definitively that based on the spectacular job that AMI is doing not only picking up high quality consignments for auction but as Howard is pointing out, providing excellent information and photos to potential bidders, I know that AMI is the auction house for me for all of my future selling needs.
