View Full Version : OT: Who wore (wears) the largest jersey size in MLB?

Mr.3000

Has anyone ever worn a size 58 or 60? (not sure there even is a size 58).

I am trying to think of who might have had the largest jersey and what size it was.

Maybe Cecil Fielder?

Thoughts?

the blue jays once offered a 1999 cecil fielder "game ready" jersey and it was a size 52. same size he took during his tigers heyday. fielder's last MLB season was 1998 but he was with the jays for 1999 spring training and didn't make the cut. i don't believe fielder ever went beyond a 54 if he ever even took a 54.

anyway, to answer the question, the largest size that i know of is bob wickman at size 58. a few other players wear a 56.

I believe CC Sabathia wore a size 56 last year with the Brewers, and Prince has the same size.

I think this thread has been done before but I will add Livan Herrnandez has worn size 58 and 56. That may be before the Cool Base was invented because Livan liked a loose fitting jersey. ;)

I THINK Carlos Zambrano went as high as a 58 in 2008.

Fielder wore a 52 during his brief stint with the Indians while Sabathia wore size 56 last year for the Indians before getting traded.

Manny Ramirez, albeit baggy because he prefers it that way, wears a 56.

But we'll have to wait and see if that holds up when he gets back from his 50 day vacation, now that he's off his......um........fertility drugs:rolleyes:

I have no idea who Young is, but I recall Pickering when he played for Balt.

Those are the jereys I would need to find then :D I had the idea of buying an actual game used jersey, preferably of a scrub, and wear it my self. Problem is.....I'm 6'0 265. A big 'un. For authentics, I wear a 60. So unless a gamer is cut big...I would need to find a 60....maybe a 58.Big maybe lol

I wanted to add...before anyone made an issue of it....of course whichever jerey I bought to wear would NEVER be resold. I definately don't agree with people that do that. That's why I want a cheapo. Something pretty much only I would want and to go to games in...etc

The heaviest player in MLB history is Walter Young. He played for the Baltimore Orioles in 2005 and I recently saw him this year playing with the Sussex Skyhawks (Northern New Jersey) of the Can-Am League. I think he was listed as 6' 5" 322 lbs. when he made his major league debut. He played in 14 games that season, but I have no idea what his jersey size was. I did buy this season a Louisville Slugger cracked bat at the Orioles Team Store of Walter Young and it was 36 inches long. It probably was laying around from his time with the team in 2005.

This guy makes Ryan Howard look tiny.

I've got a 2006 Prince Fielder BP jersey that is a size 54. However, the big daddy of all jerseys I've purchased is Fielder's Cerveceros Jersey from last year's game -- Size 60!

60?!? There ya go! I think that's the biggest then. I always believed that my Bob Wickman jersey was the biggest ever in the bigs (along with Livan Hernanadez that also wears a 58), but I've never heard of a size 60.

I'd definately fit inot that bad boy! :D I do wear my Authentic jerseys a little big...I hate "snug" clothing. So I bet I could fit a 58...but why try? lol

Just curious....what kind of value are we talking on that Fielder Cerveceros? Probably way more than I am looking for in a jersey to wear....plus I respect Fielder game used far too much to wear around. That deserves to be displayed and enjoyed.

What about Rusty Staub at his biggest? I love that guy, one of my favorite players. He couldn't be too expensive and I would proudly wear one of his gamers.

I picked up the Prince Fielder jersey in Grey Flannel's last auction. You can check out pics of it on GF's site. Lot number 707. It cost me approximately $450 with auction premium, shipping, etc.

What size does Bobby Jenks of the White Sox wear? Or Adam Dunn?

Those guys aren't exactly Jenny Craig'ers?

Not a bad price at all. I don't don't if I could sport a $450 jersey without worrying if I got a stain on it lol $150 gamer? No worries.

Don't know the size, but I'm sure Jonathan Broxton of the Dodgers is up there 56-58? Since he's 6-4 290.

Mr.3000, I have seen late career gamers of Staub, which have generally been 48s. Keep in mind, that sizing ran differently in the 1980s, and players wore their jerseys with a tighter fit. Today, Staub's probably about a 54.

So far Prince Fielder at a 60 would be my best option. I may have to begin to shop around for one.

I guess I would be looking for a 2008....I don't think he wears a 60 this season. He appears to be in better shape than last year.
