Yankees agreement with City of NY

The City of New York reached an agreement with the Yankees on the sale of artifacts from Yankee Stadium. The Yankees will pay the city about $11 million for the rights to sell things from the stadium. I believe Steiner will handle most of the things sold. It is my understanding that season ticket holders will get to buy the seats they sat in. I had hoped to possibly get the seats we sat in for the last game at the Stadium, but since I bought the tickets from a ticket agency that seems to have gotten them from a season holder that may kill that chance.

Bid for 'a piece of history' of old Yankee Stadium

NEW YORK — The seats at the new Yankee Stadium won't be the only things expensive here in the Bronx. The New York Yankees and Steiner Sports announced details of a long-awaited public sale/auction that will enable fans to buy everything from player lockers and foul poles to Monument Park bricks and outfield grass from the original Yankee Stadium.
Starting today, fans will be able to bid on everything from ex-manager Joe Torre's locker to the seats where Reggie Jackson hit some of his mammoth home runs as a member of the Yankees. The Yankees also showed off a banged-up door that Jeter whacked with his bat before every game for good luck during a press conference here at the new Stadium.
Lonn Trost, the Yankees chief operating officer, said the auction by Yankees-Steiner Collectibles allows fans to buy "a piece of history." Brandon Steiner, chief executive of Steiner Sports, predicts items such as former player lockers, the old foul poles and pieces of the home dugout will fetch the most money.
About 1,500 pieces from stadium seats to outfield sod to in-stadium signage will eventually go on sale during the auction that kicks off today at www.steinersports.com (http://www.steinersports.com/) or by calling 1-800-759-SCORE and ends July 24. Twenty-six items go on sale today, including:
— Pairs of Stadium seats ranging from $1,499 to $1,999 plus commemorative single seats for $750;

— Bleacher seats for $399;
— Original bricks from Monument Park in a glass case with the Yankees logo for $150;
— Final season crystals with dirt from the original Stadium for $80;
— A Yankees bat rack from the home dugout;
— And a "Courage Tradition Heart" sign that was located above the awning of the Yankees front office.
