For sale is a Gregor Blanco videomatched game used broken bat from August 22nd, 2008 in St. Louis. This bat shows heavy use being shattered in two and there are two MLB holograms on the barrel & knob. There are also other stickers from this bat being researched in the broken bat study from last year. One sticker says "BRAVES" (I assume this was for the researchers to know which team to send it back to once the study was completed), and another sticker that says "STL-125" (I know STL stands for it being broken in St. Louis, but I have no idea what the "125" stands for). There is also a blue piece of tape that has "31.9" written on it. I purchased this bat directly from the Atlanta Braves; their original pricetag is still attached to the bottom of the knob and I'll also include a copy of my receipt if requested. There was a tape job going down the handle which was removed by the team (I'm guessing this was so that the researchers could measure the girth of the handle without any tape job adding additional length to it). Blanco's number "18" is on both the knob and end of the barrel written in silver. Video shows Blanco breaking this bat and it flying in the the grass and getting stuck. This bat is not repaired and a blue piece of tape is holding it together. I've already removed this blue tape off of two other bats that I own that were boken and this tape does not damage the bat at all and will come off easily if he buyer intends to do so. My price is $75 which includes priority mail with delivery confirmation.

Kyle -

I'm not really interested in buying the bat, but just verifying what I'm seeing and reading...

Since the bat broke into two pieces and was used in MLB's research, they Authenticated the two separate pieces of the bat individually? In one way, it's makes sense, but in another, does that mean if a bat exploded into 3, 4 or 5 pieces they would authenticate each piece separately?

I have to give it this - definitely no question on authenticity on the bats used in the study!

All of the bats I own right now that were from the study are only in 2 pieces, but I do have 1 bat in my collection (used in 2007) that is broken in 3, and each piece has it's own seperate hologram. Even a 10 inch piece of the handle that shattered off has a hologram, so that goes to prove that MLB isn't afraid to throw holograms everywhere they can.
