Hello all. I am looking for some help on a Dolphins helmet I recently bought from a collector who claims to have been given the helmet by an equipment manager for the dolphins.
The helmet is a RIDDELL with all the padding inside. It has a serial number of RIDDELL-16784-L. It shows significant wear and the dolphins decals have been peeled off the sides. The chin strap has been cut, but the snapped on parts are still there.
Now for the weird part. The helmet is signed by Dan Marino, and has UDA holograms which check out (I called upper deck). I dont think that Marino wore this helmet because the facemask does not match his, but I still think it is game worn.
Can anyone help? Does the serial number indicate when the helmet was produced? Can I buy the appropriate decals to restore the helmet? Are other pieces of the helmet available?
Any help anyone can provide would be fantastic. I can email pictures if they will help you help me. Thanks in advance.
