Hi,

Wondering if the resident helmet experts would comment on this one? From reading everyone's posts, the white interior of the shell is throwing me off.

Thanks!

Tom

Why is the white shell throwong you off? Do you think it should be otherwise? Most, if not all, of the '76 Seahawks gamers were white impregnated shells. This looks to be legit, however, it will be the first helmet that I've seen where the equipment manager's marked up the player's number with a # sign. Yet, it does look to be a legit Steve Myer game worn.

Princip -

Thanks for the clarification. I had thought I'd seen in earlier posts on 'Hawks helmets that they should have the same color on the inside as is on the outside. Thanks again for clearing that up.

nothing from the photos would indicate that it's a reproduction imo - nice looking helmet. fwiw, it sold last month for $420. fwiw2, it's a pretty typical seahawks setup from that era (pac3, dungard 210, etc.) and pretty much exactly what zorn, among others, wore at one time or another - just the type of lid that might give a few of our ebay friends some ideas...

I had no idea that it sold for $420 last month, as a Steve Myer lid? Hunh.....that explains a few things, most notably, the insistence of the seller to get at least $400 for it, since, this is it's 2nd, or, 3rd go around on ebay with a starting bid of $399. He wasn't getting any bids, so, he relisted it with a starting bid at $299.

I hear you loud and clear Robert. Take pics of it now(photo docs), while it's still a Steve Myer helmet.

Good news! I ended up winning this Myer helmet, thus, it will stay a Myer helmet and featured on my site. I've noticed that there is some Dymo tape residue underneath the markered #16. Sometimes, it is possible to make out a name; i.e. my Zorn helmet has that(new pics of this helmet on my website soon), also, my Tom Lynch helmet (http://www.greenglare.com/images/76_dg140_5.jpg), which was used by previous player #52 Randy Coffield (http://www.greenglare.com/images/52_coffield2.jpg). Underneath the Lynch Dymo tape is blue Dymo tape residue where you can make out the name Coffield. It's also markered 52 on the inside of the helmet.
