got three bats here I am very interested in. I have two options. Buy the Manny and Ortiz for $750, or buy just the Pedroia for $600.($600 for pedroia seems a bit pricey in my mind) What do you guys think of these bats(authenticity overall use) and which deal do you think is best? Could use some help because I love all three.....

Personally, I think all current players are overpriced. Pedroia is exciting, but he'll be producing bats for years (or something awful will happen, in which case you won't want a $600 bat of his.) Also, I really think this economy is going to knock some prices down eventually.

BUT, that being said, what do you think about these players? I've been reading that many think Ortiz is starting a slide towards the end of his career. If that's true, then you'll see a slide in his memorabilia prices (think Nomar.) So if you have patience, perhaps Ortiz's stuff will be cheaper later.

Just a thought.

Here are my thoughts......

Before you decide to buy any of the bats do your homework!!

Make sure they ar what they are said to be. I am not a Red Sox game used bat expert, but there are a few guys on this forum who collect Manny's, Ortiz's & Pedroia bats. Speak with them first make sure everything adds up on the bats.

I have a David Ortiz bat and the number on the knob is written different then the one on the ebay posting. Mine came from the Red Sox. So for me that would be a flag. But as I said ask the experts on here.

The next thing as Earlywynn pointed out.
Predroia bat would be one of the coolest since it was from so early in his rookie career, but the price to me is way to high and there will be more bats of his down the road. Not to mention if something happens to him??
David Ortiz I would say will always be a fan favorite but as earlywynn mentioned I think also he may be coming to a decline in his career. With that said his prices might start dropping.
Manny Ramiriez well I don't think his prices will start dropping if anything possibly going higer as he plans to keep going and has said publically he wants to try to keep playing until he can at least hit 600 Home Runs. I would say at this point he is pretty close to Hall of Fame bound and if he hits the 600 mark I would say he is a shoe in.

EarlyWynn and Suave brought up some good points. Also, if you do decide on buying these guys, I would look for one with a Steiner LOA. Steiner direct prices are too high, but if you look around (here, ebay, Steiners auctions), you can find one reasonably priced.

the sellers are forum members and are stand up guys. I know nothing about Manny Indian bats so I cant pass judgement, but I collect enough RedSox bats to know that the Ortiz and Pedroia are good bats.
Just my 2 cents...........:D

I love the pedroia, but $600 is way too high and the seller is convinced it will sell for no less, so I've decided to pass on it. I am a huge sox fan and would love to add the manny and ortiz and I think $350 each is a reasonable price. I am confident the Ortiz is legit, I am unsure of the manny as I haven't been able to find any info on his indians bats. Anyone know anything of mannys bat use in 2000??

All good advice.....My opinion?......the Pedroia rookie is the way to go.

In two full seasons, he's a rookie of the year, followed by an MVP season?

Are you kidding?......That bat, if authentic, is worth $1,000+ if you can photo match it.

And, if he continues on a career like he's started out......you're talking about a rookie gamer from a Hall of Famer.

It could end up being worth thousands more.

I have searched high and low to try and photomatch it. With no luck. Trust me I love this bat being a huge sox fan. Just trying to convince myself $600 is a fair price.....

Ok I am not quite sure how or why you feel he it is worth $1000???

Plenty of players have had 2 great seasons to start and didn't go anywhere near expected. And just because a player any player has 2 great seasons I am not sure how that automatically puts there bat up at $1000

There are plenty of better players with better seasons that you can pick up 2 bats with for that amount of money and gauranteed hall of famers.
