Do you have a list of all the bat models that Fred Lynn ordered during his career?

Thanks,

Rod

Hi Rod--- here is a summary of Fred Lynn's personal H & B records from 1973 thru 1981--

During the 1973-75 label period, early orders were K75 and R43 in lengths of 34 1/2 " and 35". In 1975 he went almost exclusively to M110, 34 " with 2 other orders of K75.

In the 1976 label period look for D113 primarily, with K75, S2 and M110 orders as well. Most orders were 34", with a couple 35".

From 1977-79 the majority of his orders were M110 and D113, A few random orders of T141, W193, and K75 are also seen. 99% of all orders during this period were 34', with just two orders of D113 being 34 1/2".

In 1980 and 1981, all orders were either D113 or M110, all at 34", with the exception of one order of one 35" S2.

Note that beginning in 1979 the large majority of his bats were cupped end. Also during his entire career, the majority of his bats were natural finishm some wax finish, and in 1978 and early 1979 some Flame Treated finish.

If you have a specific bat you are considering, post the labeling period, dimensions, model, and finish and it is possible that the time of manufacture may be able to be narrowed down a bit.

What about after 81?

What is the definition of a cupped end?

What about L140 & L142?

Thank you for all your information.

Hi Rod--

Here is the rest of the info--sorry I got distracted and posted the partial info.

In 1982, his preferences for M110 and D113 continued. In Sept 1982 is found his first use of model L140.

.In the transition year of 1983 and through the rest of the 1983-85 label period, look for M110, M110C (cupped), L141 (first order 6/27/83) , and L142 (first order 12/15/83). During this period all professional bats for Lynn's personal use were 34 inches and 30, 31, or 32 ounces. Finishes include Hickory, Hornsby, Flame Treated, and Natural.

From 1986 to 1990, only one order of H & B bats appear in his H & B records,--- a single order of L142 bats to BB Miscellaneous, with specified weight. Virtually all H & B bats from 1986 through 1996 were ordered by various promo companies and were not manufactured for fred's personal professional use.

To answer your other question, "cupped" indicates a bat that has a shallow cup in the barrel end of the bat, as opposed to a typical rounded end. In the
H & B records, the non-cupped and the cupped models of a M110 bat would be designated as M110 and M110C respectively. On the cupped bat itself, the branded model number may appear either with or without the C designation .
