Ok, so i had a new Diamondback Pro Trick Bike that i never used so i put it on craigslist for trade...long story short i ended up with a 1915 Spanish Ruby Pistol, and a Wally Joyner Game used bat. He actually pulled the bat out of the truck and was like "here Have this too!" I was like wow cool sooo. The guy didnt say anything about what year it was from, or anything like even if it was game used. Just said my cousin IS Wally Joyner and this is one of his bats! do i beleive it, I dont know. So this is a mystery for you guys with a wealth of knowledge to look at. I will post pics if people are interested. So i dont know aht year the Blond LS is from as all the bats i own a recent bats. The autogragh says, "Steve, Best Wishes, Wally Joyner" They WIERD thing is right below it in some substance ive never seen before is written "1986". Geuss it looks like old Marker, but not the same marker as the inscription is in. Another this is that there is no team, it just says Wally Joyner and then Louisville Slugger under it. AND wally Joyner is in cursive not block lettering. These clues from what i know usually mean to me that this would be a reproduction bat...as far as how bats are recently, and if the name is not in block letter and in cursive then its prolly not from 1986 his rookie year as i dont think Louiswill Slugger would have his fasmile auto on the bats that fast.
There is old tape on the bat, along with the #21 on the knob. I JUST NOTICED, there seems to be a hairline crack right through the middle of the handle. There is one or two rack marks...so markk marks, ALSO is a #21 on the top of the bat almost fading. The one other cool thing is that there is a PEREFCT transfer of backwards words from a ball on the bat. Maybe the words of the ball could date it too. Anyhow im going to take good pics here. I know this bat isnt worth anything but im excited to learn about it cause i got it in a pretty cool way from a guy that didnt seem to care about the bat or the history. So ANYONE...what do you think!!!!!!!!! I really appreate any info....pictures in about 5 min

The ball marks look like it says All Star. Maybe an All Star game used bat.

The ball mark doesn't say All Star.......those are partial letters from an OAL baseball ("LL" from ball & "eague" from league). The All Star Game that year was in Houston and I believe the markings on balls that year were red.

I would agree that it looks like an OAL ball transfer, but I believe the 86 all star game did use baseballs with blue ink.

OK....now im kinda convenced a little bit that it could be from the All Star Game. If im reading up correctly on the Wally Joyner he was one of the few that put up amazing numberes as a rookie and made the all-star game in his first year pro, Now its a nice thought that not only wouldl i have a Joyner rookie year game used "All Star Game Bat", but thatrs almost impossible to prove. If the was a picture of Joyner batting in the All star game of 1986 we might can photo match...Is this really possible? If i really did have Wally Joyner allstar roookie gamer...what would the value be on that. Anyhow...still looking for bat records and or/ more info from someone that might know even more to add to ths bat...Thank you so much!!!

That transfer mark is definitely not from an All Star Game BB.

I would agree, definitely not an all star game ball mark transfer, I was just stating that all star baseballs did have blue ink on them that year.

Hi - I have 12 Joyner bats from all 4 teams he played with over his career. All the bats have the same tapped handle, and all have his number on the on the knob. He was very consistant over his career with the taped handle.
Also 3 of the bats have a Best Wishes inscription that matches your bat. The 1986 under the signature looks like it was added by the person who recieved the bat.
I will post pics of my Joyner bats later tonight. Always interested in Joyner items.

It's funny how everyone who replied on this site said the ink transfer did not look like an all star ball ink transfer, yet your description says it looks just like an all star ball ink transfer.

Hey Angels18,
Looks like I sold you the black '96 Padres Rawlings. I forgot to tell you that I'm almost positive that this photo shows Wally using that bat.

http://www.gettyimages.com/detail/237434/Getty-Images-Sport

The date of the pic matches the date from the Padres Store COA or within a day or two. I was also watching that game and remembere'd him breaking the bat and the Padres store getting the bat in the next day. It won't count as a true photo match but just an FYI.

I guess I should have put a watermark on my photo, since he took it and used it without permission on his listing to help with his lies.

This is the problem with the hobby anything to make an extra dollar. The site is to help people. What is the point of asking questions if you only intend to mislead a potential buyer when you sell it.I am sure you have lost credibility with members here. Its as bad as someone I know stripping a 1993 NY Mets game used jersey and then having it customized into a Dwight Gooden and then having it signed. This person sees nothing wrong with that but if he ever resells that jersey and it falls into the wrong hands then what.I take pride in this site and the help members offer me on a daily basis. And I thank you all.Just throwing in my 2 cents..

i'm confused here. on 2/20 greengrizzle concluded that it "sucks that it is no way that it could be his allstar bat for that year".

on 2/23, he listed the bat on ebay and said "It very well could of been used in the Record Breaking All-Star game where Wally Joyner was the First Rookie to be selected to the All-Star Game...THE MAIN point is that there is a INK BALL transfer(see Pictures!) on the bat that Looks JUST like what a 1986 ALL-STAR BALL's Letter looks like!."

"Sweet there we go...getting some people to respond and begining to investigate this bat...lets keep it going"

i agree greengrizzle, let's keep it going! i'm interested in hearing a sweet explanation!

I'm ashamed that the thought of it being an all star game ballmark crossed my mind for a nanosecond.

I never thought he'd run with the idea in a fraudulent manner....

I was actually going to bid on his Dunn bat, but then I noticed the Joyner (and had already seen this thread before he posted it). Lost my bid of $150.

I also like how he keeps referring to 'Steve' when the bat is clearly personalized to 'Shawn'???
