I'm not sure if the OP is looking for a ball "used" during the actual game, but I can tell that the unsued ones are in severe shortage (I heard it had something to with the green stitching in that they didn't make them in the quanity they had before). Fortunately, I've had Cal Ripken Jr. sign a few for me over time, but the last unsused one that was one eBay went for OVER $100 !

I know I've shown this before, but the thread reminded me of this....It's a 2001 All Star ball signed by (then) ESPN's Charley Steiner on the swwet spot with his 'phrase' from when Ripken hit the HR in his first at bat (he signed it for me when he was working for the Yankees)......

If any of my fellow collectors follow NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt died in February 2001 at the Daytona 500. His son, Dale Jr., raced in the July 2001 Daytona race in a car sponsored by the 2001 MLB All Star Game.

I was a big fan of Dale Jr before his dad died but I really liked how he handled the pressure of taking up his father's mantle. I rarely cry at sporting events but I was so happy to see Jr win the race, it became my favorite NASCAR memory.

I own a ton of stuff from that race, including an ultra rare Elite 1:24 scale version of his car and other stuff but the prize jewel is a 2001 All Star baseball signed by Jr.

Thanks for bringing up the subject and giving me a smile.

Wish I could help, in fact I'm looking for a couple myself(with autos though).

Even being a big Mariners fan, I only had a hunch these were made in a smaller batch than normal as the prices are way up there and only seem to go higher each time.

At least I'm not the only one frustrated by the scarcity
