I just got my first wood bat for my own use. I'm thinking of putting some tape on it, so I want to see some different tape jobs on game used bats. I'd love to see any gamer with tape on it, but especially the unusual ones.

I might try copying SkubeBats Ricky Weeks gamer but I'm not quite sure how to do the knob:

Here are some of my taped up bats Cameron, Boone, Olerud, Stairs, Larue:

When it comes to tape on bats, are there any MLB rules that prevent tape or certain amounts of tape on bats used in regular season game? or are taped bats more common in BP / Spring training?

Nope just that nothing like tape/pinetar/motastick etc can be above 18 inches or something like that

Here are some pictures of some tape jobs. The bats are Tony Gwynn Jr, JJ Hardy, Bill Hall, Prince Fielder, and Rickie Weeks.

Awesome bats! Does Gwynn use tennis grip like his dad?

Yes he does use tennis tape like his father. Tony Gywnn Jr. bat is the top bat in the pictures.

That actually seems like a good idea, I play tennis, and it's much more tacky and more "grippy" if you will, than the regular tape guys use. I never thought of using it on a bat, but it's a great idea. Surprised more guys don't use it, but then again it might be so tacky that it's uncomfortable to swing. Ricardo

But the downside is that it's really thick compared to athletic tape.

If anybody cares, Jeff Conine used the Tennis grip on his bats when he was a Cincinnati Red

So I'm trying to copy the Ricky Weeks tape job, I was able to tape the handle, but does anyone know how to tape the knob like that?

Never mind. I realized I couldn't get my bat weight on if I taped the knob so scratch that idea.
