Forum Readers-

I bring your attention to the following auction on Ebay for a Mike Piazza "Pro" model glove:

Pleaase note that there are two dots directly after the name. It is important to note that Rawlings manufactured these gloves with the two dots to distinguish them from a player issued glove. No player issued glove will ever have these dots. I want to bring light to this because a few years ago, I purchased a McGwire first basemans glove from a huge auction house, and in the auction catalog and web photos, it looked perfect. Upon winning it and closer inspection, you could see where there goldish stitching in the two small dots after the name were removed, and the leather scuffed up to try to hide this. Needless to say, the auction rules that "all sales are final" were not enforced and my money was refunded.

A word to the wise-be extremely careful when purchaing Rawlings modern era gloves with similar gold/yellow stitiching. Examine it for the two dots that may have been removed, and also know, these are not player issued/worn gloves.

I welcome the knowledge of any glove experts to add to this thread.

Howard,
Here's a classic example of a Rawlings Cal Ripken Jr. glove with the dots after the name.

Here is another example of a 2 dot glove. This MAC glove was originally purchased by Howard Wolf from an auction about 8 years ago and was returned and his money refunded. Since then the 2 dots that were after the name have been removed.

I myself have never handled the glove and the information on it was passed on to me by Howard himself.

Also want to add that the current owner of the glove has been contacted and no reply has been sent at the present time.

What about "one" dot after the name?

I have seen some gloves in the past with just one dot...

Always try to add the photos because once the eBay listing I think is not accessible after 90 days.

Also, do you think the seller realizes the dots were removed? You can still see the holes.

Doesn't it look like Mark McGuine and someone added another vertical line to make the "U" a "W"?

That glove is as fake as his career.

Does anyone have a picture of this Piazza glove?
