Vintage - I see you are a Nats fan. How strong is the probability of Dunn signing with you guys? I see several teams interested but I always thought his final destination would be Washington. They have been interested in him for some time...

RK-

I know it won't happen, but the Reds still have a hole in LF. I think the relationship was torn apart even before the trade so you count the Reds out, but I wish he was still on the team.

I thought the Nats had enough OF's even by Ol' Leatherpants standards? If I had to guess I think Dunn goes to a team that has a chance to compete. Would not mind seeing Dunner hit balls into the Cove with San Fran.

I think the chances are good - we've always been known as a dumping ground for ex-Reds players who stink......

If Dunn is a player that "stinks".... you must not be able to tolerate any of the current players on that might Nats team  Guess Lastings and Zims 14 bombs and .330 OBB gets people more excited.

Will be very interesting to see where he ends up.

What you dont understand about Nats fans, is that there are certain players that we like and relate to, despite their on the field shortcomings....some players just dont, or wouldnt feel like "ours".

Zim, Milledge, Belliard, etc - Good
Wily Mo Pena, Adam Dunn, etc - Bad

I'm not understanding Vintage' comments about Dunn either. 40 bombs over like 5 years running, nice ob%. It's like Kingman, he could drive in 100 plus and 30 bombs but hit .230 and have alot of K's and Mets fans just couldn't do it. Maybe there is something I'm missing about Dunn, but he seems like a good guy. Not a superstar, but I'd almost rather have him on an AL team to tell you the truth, and I'd rather see him go where he can win, and he won't win in WA.

The timing is good so you can come in for the Obama Inauguration and stay for the Nats Fanfest!

The Nationals posted on their Web site about the players signing for their Winter Caravan. It does list Ryan Zimmermann on January 25th for Natsfest.

I am assuming that the info given about game used merchandise in this thread is accurate so I may try to go to this event.

Thanks for the info.

Chris

I just called the Nationals ticket and service office and spoke to someone and they said that were not aware of any game used merchandise being sold at Natsfest. He said that I was the first to ask about it and they just had a meeting about this event yesterday (and that is why they updated their Web site). Nothing is mentioned on the site either. I may try calling again next week to see if something has changed. If anyone wants to call, let me know and I will give you the number.

FYI,
Chris

My application is in to share a table with Locker Room Memorabilia and we will be selling Game Used items which will include a lot of Ryan Zimmerman items.

The Nationals Dream Foundation will also be selling game used items. What items are you looking for?

Chris78
01-15-2009, 02:44 PM
Nothing in particular -- could be a better player, a spring training player, or coach. I figured that I would see what they have and what the prices are like. Do you have any idea what the prices might be like?

Chris

allstarsplus
01-15-2009, 03:06 PM
It all depends if the Dream Foundation does their sales in a silent auction format which they have done before.

Locker Room Memorabilia should have some Michael Burgess game used Minor League items too.

skyliner59
01-22-2009, 05:09 PM
I spoke to a team representative yesterday and she told me the Nats will not be offering any game used merchandise at the fest but tables will be set up for dealers to hawk their items. So the answer is no, the Nats will not be selling any game used items. I unfortunately now have 2 adult tics for sale as well.

01-22-2009, 05:24 PM

I'm very close to the situation..........

There will be some g/u stuff minus Zim but Andrew has that covered.

Chris78
01-22-2009, 07:02 PM
I am not looking for anything in particular, but if dealers are selling the items, I do not see jerseys being sold for anything less than $125 for common players -- and that probably is low with the Nationals being a fairly new team. If you gave us a price range for items that you are selling, I think it would make me decide what I am doing. Right now I am undecided about this event.

nationals2k9
01-22-2009, 08:08 PM
I'm actually helping to price the g/u stuff for the fan fest at work tomorrow. They came to me and asked for help in what stuff to sell and what to ask. There are to be 10 or so auction items (Zim signed bat, Acta signed bat, etc... nothing game used in the auction last we spoke) and then a decent amount of g/u bats - Milledge, Dukes, Belliard, Boone, Wily Mo, etc and a few g/u jerseys of past players and current coaches. The team only has 1 g/u jersey of some of the current guys and may hold those for an in-season auction. When the organization is young and doesn't have a lot of stuff it needs to be careful understandably.

Considering who plays for the Nats and their general lack of star power, I think you can probably pick up a nice g/u bat and signed ball for $100 if you're quick to get what they have. Almost all stuff will have MLB holo or Nats COA. You're essentially dealing with 1 year of stuff with a lot of it already having gone to ownership, etc to document the first year in the ballpark. What you can say is "this was used the first season at Nationals Park" and not break the bank and hope a lot of these guys have break out seasons coming.

That's all I've got!

And I'm not trying to get folks to attend or build up the event... simply saying that my position allows me to know that there will indeed be some game-used Nationals stuff for sale. And hopefully, in everyone's fair opinion, it will be priced correctly.

Generally speaking, I see no harm paying a few bucks for a g/u bat or signed ball when the proceeds go directly to a charitable foundation. This thing is young, it'll grow!

Keep in mind this is the first time we've done this and everything is for charity so it's not a standard sticker sale.

When you say "standard sticker sale" are you indicating that jerseys will be available at the team store some time in the future? And if you're "auctioning the players" does that mean there are more players available than previously listed? Can you also tell I'm looking for a reason NOT to go? :D

I don't know when we'll get to the point that game-used will see the team store. Especially if the bigger guys have their "connections" or marketing companies already and we have a foundation to support. The only game-used anything has been mentioned... there are the 7 player g/u jerseys (auction), about 6-8 g/u coaches (sale), and the g/u bats (sale), balls, and a couple hats (sales). There are also a decent amount of signed balls, generic bats, hats.

Andrew will have some extra Zim stuff and who knows what else.
