Two Tennessee football jerseys that are both incorrectly identified as being from 1996. There are a few issues here.
1) Manufacturer (for the Lenoir) -- 1996 Tennessee was Sports Belle, not Russell
2) Rosters -- #68 in 1996 was center/guard Spencer Riley and #65 was guard Robert Poole
3) Dates -- Patrick Lenoir's final year at UT was 1991. I don't even remember a Rhodes being there, but I may be wrong.

That said, I'm certain these are both good jerseys. But how on earth either is dated to 1996 is beyond me. Why?

In 1996, UT's orange home jerseys featured an embroidered patch commemorating the 75th anniversary of Neyland Stadium that was sewn to the front of the left shoulder. I have numerous 1996 home jerseys in my closet. Were the Rhodes a 1996, it would have that. It also would have an SEC patch on the neck. I believe that a few 1993 leftovers (sans 200-year patch) were used in 1995 that lacked the SEC patch, but I cannot find any like this in 1996.

And if the Lenoir were a 1996, it would have been made by a different company, had different trim, featured a much different shade of orange, and so on.

Hey Nathan I would love to hear about your UT game jerseys. Have you seen the incredible Al Wilson gamer on Vintage Authentics?
