Rudy-
Here is another "1996 gamer" that, per your earlier post, has 1995 Russell tagging. Also, I have sold quite a few 1995 and 1996 Yankees jerseys, and have never seen one with this type of printing. The black printing for the players name and year are usually much "cleaner", and don't have this type of bleeding.

Comments are appreciated.

Howard,

I don't see a picture or link or any reference to a specific jersey?

Howard,

It looks like one of 2 things:

- either it's a stamp. That is, someone cleaned off the previous markings, purchased a custom ink stamp and stamped the tag.

- the computer printer head just bled ink on that particular tag.

Either way, there's way too much ink and it didn't seem to get washed away or fade. It's odd.

Here is a 1996 Yankees tag. Note it's also a 1995 Russell tag. I don't see any issue whatsoever with a 1995 Russell jersey tagged as a 1996. It just indicates a carry-over. I do see an issue with a 1996 Russell jersey tagged as a 1995 (as per your previous example of the AMI Clemens). This would indicate use of a time machine.

And just for fun, look at this wacky tag. What do you think the explanation for this one is? 92/93 Russell tag, tagged as a 96. Did Russell really pull out a 3 yr old jersey? Do the Yankees do their own strip tagging?:

Where did the Doc Gooden come from? I would bet you that yes, The Yankees could use a jersey that had been sitting around for years at a later date and time. They didn't care about these things that we seem to care so much about.

They just wanted to play baseball.

KingJammy i am curious where you got the strawberry jersey from and are you willing to sell it? I actually have the same one but mine is the Away jersey, Mine was a carry over from 95 bcuz the cool thing about mine is when strawberry came up at the end of 95 his number was "26" and then he became "39" in 96. My jersey shows the original stitch marks from when it had "26" on the back and now it has "39". Let me know if your interested in selling?
