Without beter pics of the Flutie, I can't be sure, but I'm quite sure the McMahon was never used in a game. The larger-size nameplate lettering with the thicker orange outline was only found on retail auhentics.

hey warren

the use on the peyton manning was great. most of them seemed to show pretty good use. most (all?) were QBs so i couldn't see any team repairs. the older ones, despite not having tears and gashes, still had good use. the tags had substantial wash wear and lots of loose threads everywhere.

overall a great place. definitely an incredible collection and worth seeing. the $7 parking fee is insane and i didn't pay it. the admission is $17.50. they've got more guards than they do at the getty. every 20 ft. seriously. it felt like some sort of real life splinter cell game, trying to time the guard's movements with opportunities to whip out the camera. gary cypres is fighting a losing battle if he thinks he can not have his collection photographed in a public museum. several other collectors lamented not being to photograph things and some tried with their camera phones. for petes sake, at least put out a catalogue. additionally, many items didn't have any signage indicating what they were. some did, many didn't. made it hard to really understand and appreciate what you were viewing.

hey you know what else i saw there? the sid luckman jersey that recently sold at AMI. i guess gary bought it. sid luckman was apparently another small man.

anyway, use was great on most items, however there were definitely some items that you'd think would show a lot more use than they did. he had a 1993 clemens jersey up that looked completely mint and crisp. i saw one item there with a mears sticker on it.

he had a nice jackie robinson dodgers shirt that i couldn't photograph.

warren, how did you like the basketball stuff? isn't that the george mikan that was discussed here that GFC sold? he's also got jerseys from the original NBA teams.

no post-1940s football helmets. all he had were leather helmets. not a good place for game used bats either. lots of very, very old wood..dating to the beginning of baseball..but nothing post-30's. same deal with baseball gloves. lots of very, very old ones but nothing but post-40s.

i'd say the highlights are the yankees and babe ruth stuff, the (brooklyn and LA) dodgers stuff. lots of great babe ruth items.

The basketball stuff looked great. It appears as though many hoop items were purchased from Grey Flannel over the past few years. A Los Angeles Stars or Anaheim Amigos ABA is needed. I would pay 17.50 plus 7.00 parking and drive 4 miles to see the "Dick's Courtroom Collection". I'm sure I'll make the trip to see this museum soon... No freeways needed!

Rudy, I see what appears to be a Bradshaw and Staubach jersey in this photos reflection...did you happen to take any pictures of those?

Great Pics! Thx for sharing them so we can get a look at some great jerseys on display. One quick question- do you have any pics of the layout of the museum in terms of how items were displayed, etc? It looks like it was pretty straight-forward with simple cases and or in the open. I am always looking for interesting ways of displaying jerseys and/or other items. Thanks!

most of the jerseys were hung on hangers and hung against the wall and held in large, thick, plastic cases. the real downside to that is that you couldn't see the back. some other jerseys, almost entirely the dodgers shirts, were hung on half/torso mannequins. much better because you had a 360 view of the jersey. some mannequins were not enclosed while others were enclosed in large, clear, plastic cases. those were really the only 2 ways the jerseys were displayed. most of the other stuff was in cases. nothing was really in the open in the sense that you'd be able to physically touch it, except for a whole wack of dodgers shirts that were on mannequins and roped off.
