Has anyone had a chance to look at this "game worn Namath" jersey on ebay? It looks as if it's brand new, but has some tagging that is similar to his days with the Rams in 1977. Just wondering if anyone has thoughts on this? Seems fishy to me...

Sure looks new to me, certainly NOT 30 or 40 years old and with game action.

I have seen this jersey in person, and I think it may be real. It has the correct double Sand Knit tagging and size, with the Exclusive Jets stuff included on the tagging. Tagging appears to have the correct stiching. Like a lot of the 70s mesh jerseys, it does not have a nameplate on the back, but white tacle twill numbers stiched directly to the jersey. I was told that the jerey comes from Bill Hampton, Sr. who was a Jets equipment manager for many years. What does anybody else see that discredits this jersey from being the real thing? What years did Sand Knit manke the Jets jerseys? I own two Maynard jerseys and they are both Champion, one of which is incredibly light weight. I know the Maynards are real because they came to me directly from Maynard, who lives in my town. His opinion of the Namath jeresy was that it could have very well ben the real deal. What do you guys think?

I think that if this is the real deal, then someone got a fantastic deal for $800!!! I just thought the jersey looked brand new in those pictures. When I asked the woman where she got it, she said she was friend's with Broadway Joe. I'm not doubting the woman at all...and maybe the pics aren't very clear. I thought it looked great, just not worth gambling $800 on it great. I've seen Namath tags from his Rams days, and they looked the exact same as what was on that jersey. If it is a fake, its a very good one. I have a feeling that whoever bought that jersey got one heck of a deal!!

The numerals look way, way small. The NOB looks way too small also. Looks like a blank that has been customized. Too clean...Actually, not even close to any late 60s or early 70s Jets gamers.

You can be pretty confident somebody didn't get a "steal." There are a few identifiers/traits, which would take a while to go into at length, that I feel easily steer this to just another Namath jersey made up by the club (of which there were probably dozens and dozens) for promotional or giveaway purposes.

To nyjets fan, can you go into it with a little more detail. I am very interested as I collect Maynard and anything I can learn about spotting fakes would be appreciated.
