NEED HELP ASAP: Ripken Jersey 1982 Set 1 Size 44

Who can help with this "Ripken" jersey? The nameplate looks like its been replaced on this one. I've not sure whether Cal wore a size 44. Any help???

For multiple reasons, I am very skeptical of this jersey.

After seeing this jersey the other night, I went through all of my Ripken pictures looking for pics from 1982. I did not see any pics that would match this jersey. In my opinion, the nameplate has definitely been replaced. Another odd feature I noticed is that the stitching in the letters "les" in Orioles kind of touch each other. I don't know what to make of this other than to say that it looks "slightly" different from every other home Orioles jersey of that era that I have seen in pictures.

If you look at the other auctions, this seller also has the following star jerseys listed: Doc Gooden, Steve Garvey, Willie Randolph, Goose Gossage. Also listed and already sold was a 1977 Steve Carlton jersey ($1,480). I compared each jersey to the Bill Henderson jersey guide and noticed discrepancies with each and every one.

I'm by no means an expert but these are my observations/concerns.

Rich-EVERY jersey has some sort of problem. The Ripken, Garvey and Gooden all have incorrect nameplates. The embroidery on the Yankees NIC and tail tagging is not standard Wilson style.

Wht is the item # for the Carlton-I could not locate it?

The replate on this jersey is really badly done, and the staining at the bottom of the jersey is suspicious to me. I could see Ripken wearing a size 44 jersey at age 17 or 18, but not at 22-23. You have a very slim chance of walking away with a real deal--and a very great one of walking away with a worthless piece of crap--if you purchase this jersey.

I'm sorry. Even if this jersey isn't a Ripken--and I still believe it isn't--it's not right for me to call it a worthless piece of crap. My bad. It has some value, but in it's current condition, I don't see it being worth more than about $50.

This guy lists his items with all the right wording so people bid as if it may be game used. It is a joke how he words it, so he can increase bids because it may be game used.

Is this the same seller who had the Thurman Munson jersey a few weeks back?

The Wilson tag is post 1978, yet the jersey is tagged 1977.

The C in CARLTON on the nameplate is incorrect.

The zipper is either replaced or wrong. It should be metal, not white plaastic.

Funny thing, the year/set tag looks good.

The Ripken jersey sold for $1,781 !! This buyer apparently likes to throw away thousands of dollars on questionable jerseys!!:rolleyes:
