Does anyone know what year this bat is from or if it's even a real gamer?

The center labeling is consistent with Rawlings Adirondacks issued in 1985.

Seller indicates the 05355 is stamped over the model no. 288RJ. It looks more like 053 5 which would make the bat from 1985.

The stampings on the knob are consistent with Rawling pro model bats.

You may want to find out the length of the bat and weight.

So for a circa 1985 Rawlings bat, it should NOT have made in the USA above the logo. Also do all bats have the model numbers stamped on the knob? I was looking at a bat from this time frame and it does not have anything on the knob?

Any advise

The Rawlings Adirondack center labeling did not have "made in the USA" in the center labeling from the 83-86 period. That stamp came back in the large label RAWLINGS bats in late 86,87.

All pro model Adirondacks should have a model number stamped on the knob. Pre 80 bats would only have the model number. Post 80 should have a 3 digit lot number followed by a single digit number 0-9 representing 1980-1989, double digit year numbers starting in 1990-2008 (90-08) the present.

I would stay away from the Rawlings Adirondacks without model numbers as they are replica bats made for autographing or display.

In the case of the Strawberry 85 bat I owned with only the model number 113A and no 3 digit lot or 5 for the year code, I was told that Rawlings during spring training set up trucks outside camps to make bats for players and typically these bats made for players to try had only model numbers and no lot or year codes stamped. I returned the bat because I didn't feel comfortable with that information though it may be true.

Your welcome Bill.

One last thing about retail or autograph model Rawlings Adirondacks. The P302 designation is not used. I have 83-86 labeled Rawling Adirondack autograph model bat signed by Tommie Agee with "Made In USA" and instead of the P302 it has the number 232.

I believe it to be legit. I talked with the seller a bit when he tried to sell this a couple of months ago. The asking price is too high. As I recall, I believe he said this is a 34.5" bat but he didn't have the weight. It is a 1985 model used with the Angels.
