I wasn't the buyer for this, but isn't this just the SAM Bat equivalent of a store model??

The info in the cup doesn't include the player ID, plus I've seen other Manny store models that have the 'TY' in the cup. Did the buyer (who paid $700) get taken??

I does look a little shady, but im not a manny expert. Maybe Chris Boyd will comment since he authenticated it.

Definitely a legit bat, but debatable regarding whether it was used by Manny. Use the search function, there is a thread about it on here from 2007.

Are there other game-issued SAM Bats that didn't have the player's ID # or initials on them?

I used birdbats' SAM Bat player ID database, compiled from GUU users: http://webpages.charter.net/birdbats/Birdbats/Sam%20Bat%20Database.htm and only one bat didn't have the player ID'ed in some way, and it was the 1997 bat when the company was just getting started.

i think the seller is a member on the forum?

Well the bat had a COA, so I don't think the seller is at fault if it actually is just a game-model bat. I've just never ever seen a game-issued SAM bat that didn't have a player ID in the cup, and there are a lot of Manny 'game model' bats that have markings just like the one on the link. Maybe Manny did use those kinds of bats at some point?

Gamer35,

Thanks for posting the thread on the original sale of the bat. I did in fact issue the letter for the bat. As stated in the letter and on the post, I did purchase the bat from a Red Sox source. I was asked to issue a letter on behalf of the buyer. It is possible the bat was used by someone else in addition to Manny, but it is in fact a Manny Ramirez Professional Model Game Used Bat.

Sam Bat does not sell retail bats. I do not have access to the Sam order records, but am unsure as to why this bat did not have a batch code.

I do offer a money back guarantee if the item in question is proven to be something other than what it is described.

Thanks,

It just seems weird that there are so many of these game model Manny Sam bats out there without any ID #s, while I haven't seen any other player without an ID.

Does anyone know if sam bats would send the Red Sox shipments of Manny bats for the whole team to use, and would differentiate them by not marking the player ID? Just trying to come up with explanations to things like these:
