Check out this link for info on Pujols bats: http://webpages.charter.net/birdbats/Birdbats/Notes%20and%20Articles/Pujols%20bat%20buyers%20guide.htm
He did use Rawlings in 2001 and 2002, but not often in actual games -- he tended to use them for BP. Use characteristics are key when determining game use.

I have a 2002 Rawlings that has some green ball marks (BP), and some black ball marks (game)...
So I would have to agree with Jeff... and I think on Cards bat everyone does... but you definately need tomake sure the tar and numbers are right.

None of the bats I have seen or had my hands on have ever been taped...

I've seen him use two bats with handle tape, either on TV or in photos -- in spring training 2001 and a Sam Bat in 2005 (it looked like a Bonds bat... same finish, similar tape). Handle tape on a Pujols bat is a huge red flag that demands a photo match.

Ball Park Heroes has a Pujols 2002 Rawlings on its site.
There is a 5 on the knob, and the tar looks unremarkable...
Something I have noticed about Pujols "cut" bats...many resemble the
LS I13 which has a kind of tapered handle to knob - meaning the part of the handle that connects to the knob is fatter and gradually gets thinner toward the handle - kind of like a C271.
The tape on BPH's bat looks to relplicate that gradual taper. Since I don't have any photo proof, I would assume that it is a BP bat - which is how they advertise it.
BPH's Pujols RAW vs. a Pro Stock LS I13 - what do you think?

Dave,
I have a Pujols Rawlings... no tape... and the handle is not tapered like the I13L it more resembles a regular knob like the C243
I think the tape is misleading as to the handle just before the knob...
But I have Pujols gamers with both kinds of handles

Right Bert -
I wonder if he was experimenting with grips at some point. You are right, the C243's don't have that taper.
