I know it ain't june yet but its one day away. So i'll get it going alittle early. I just got this in the mail, a Alex Rodriguez game used bat from his rangers days. Shows good use, good pine tar around the brand. Not much mota stick on the handle but i have seen some of his bats with none. Only thing thats wrong with it, is there was some paint cipping and someone went other with a black marker.

The Rolen bat was not advertised as having a chunk of the handle missing. I repaired the handle anyway, and was pleased that it was at least a clean break. The tar is still sticky, and I have cats - so that was a pain.

That is an awesome helmet Jim. You do not say what team, but I am assuming it is Nebraska. The helmet looks orange in the photos. I bought a similar RT helmet a couple years ago. No idea what team it is. It is a darker gold with a Kelly green center stripe. It has the same numbers on the rear of the helmet which were factory applied at Riddell. Beautiful helmets.

I received this really nice select maple Endy Chavez Expos bat, an autograped Ron Swoboda card, and 4 unused tickets to the Expos last game at Shea in 2004 as a gift from GUU member Swoboda4.

This is the first select maple bat I ever owned and is a keeper!

I just won this from NBA Auctions. I had stopped collecting basketball stuff, for the most part, but I might rebuild a Knicks collection now that MeiGray is handling their stuff. This was worn by Jamal Crawford during the second half of the March 17th, 2008 game versus the Pacers. It's a special jersey in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. The auction closed on Thursday, so I look forward to receiving it soon...

Surhoff would donate a game used item (usually a bat) for their Silent Auction, but this year he must have dug deep in his closet because he donated a beautiful 2000 Game Used road top, just dripping with wear. I paid more than I wanted to for it, but the money went to a good cause and you see relatively very few legit Surhoff Orioles jerseys out there...

Yes, my helmet appears to be a circa 1953-56 Nebraska helmet. The helmet also came with a pair of gold pants that also matches the color and style of football pants worn by the Cornhuskers from the same era.

When I first saw the helmet, what caught my eye were the numbers on the back so I took a gamble and won it on eBay. After I got the helmet, it was just a matter of doing the research.

Thanks to Robert (Aeneas01), the Helmet Hut and Mark Hayne. They all provided invaluable information.

Our family went to our local minor league park, yesterday. It was a great day at the ol' ballpark. My son took a bat that was given to him at our last game. The player (Matt Arburr) hit a regular home run and then came up the next time to hit a go-ahead inside the park homer. After the game, he gave the bat to my son. We didn't have anything for him to sign with, that day. So we took it yesterday to see if he would sign. In addition, one of the visiting players had promised to give him a bat, as well. So we knew it could be a fun day.

We showed up early so that he could get autographs. It was great, because we were able to get autographs from Matt Arburr, Ben Revere, Pete Kozma, Chris Cates, and Loek Van Mil. Anyway, we were standing around and someone came up and started talking about someone in the other dugout. It turns out Paul Molitor showed up unannounced. We ran over and had him sign both of those bats, and even got him to pose for a picture with my son.

Another great thing was watching Ben Revere take BP. He was in the cage, got his hacks in, and stepped out. When he did, he began to yell to the catcher. He was asking him if he had any tape. Ben found some in the catcher's bag, and began to tape up his bat. . .then he stepped back in to take his hacks. After he came out for the final time, he began talking and laughing with another player. They looked like they were talking bad about Ben's bat. Then we watched them walk over to the steps of the dugout, lay the bat down, and jump up and down on it until it snapped. We wanted to get his autograph, so we called him over. It looked like he was looking for a trash can for the bat. Once I saw that, I quickly asked if he was going to throw it away. He was!!!!! I asked if we could have it, and he kindly agreed. We were able to get him to sign it and take a photo with my son and he.

Can't say I've had too many better days at the ballpark. Here are some of the photos of the bats. Chris Cates puts "CC" on his bat. What is kind of funny, he (or someone else) has made the "CC" appear like something else.

Picked this up in the M's auction. M's wore a special "Marineros" uniform to honor the past great Latin American players, Jeremy Reed hit a homerun in the 8th off Lopez wearing this jersey. The Ms actually won this one :) (M's 5 vs. Detroit 0).

The Josh Hamilton bat I got today from the Rangers has a MLB Authentication hologram on it.. I just checked the serial # and it shows in the MLB database that my bat was used May 16th, 2008 versus the Astros and that day Hamilton went 5 for 5 with a walk and a RBI. Now that is awesome and clearly shows some value in the MLB Database when they use it correctly!!!!!

Fellow fans and collectors!
I have a couple images to share of some Mariners that are truly nice guys, today I arranged a team meeting at Safeco field for the 40 guys that make up my team, I wanted to offer my guys a great baseball experience and asked Mike Morse (Mike has been a supporter of CFF, even though he can’t swing a golf club right now) if he would come up and visit with us, since he is on the DL he agreed and did a excellent job of representing not only the M’s but MLBA.
Mike In 2008 set a spring training record by hitting .492 and has all the tools to be a great player, but bad luck set in and in game 3 of this season hurt his shoulder and had season ending surgery. Mind you in the 2.5 years he has popped up to the big show he has a .300 average.
Anyway he came to our suite and spent a half hour with us talking about everything from bat grain and wood type to management styles he has had to deal with. He also brought me a jersey that Raul Ibanez autographed for me and my wife.
I hope you enjoy the images and enjoy the fact that there are a lot of players still out that that enjoy being with the fans and represent baseball well!
Ps. I know a few people have problems with personalization on sports memorabilia, but for the Mariners that support CFF, which killed my brother and I carry the gene I keep these in my collection which will be handed down to my boys and future decedents.

The Raul autograph says "To Ty & Diana lets find a cure! Best Wishes Raul Ibanez" Raul has been the Emcee for the M's-CFF Golf tournament the last 4 years. And the M’s have been supporting CFF with this tournament since 1986. The average person with active CFF now lives to thier 30s(in the 1970's when my 7 year old brother died that was the average life span). 1 in 30 persons have the defective gene and dont even know it.

Just picked up a New Jersey Generals game worn helmet. The helmet is a TAK-29 helmet. It’s pretty cool because the inside padding is part suspension webbing and part water-filled pads. Inside the helmet, just above the right ear hole, there is residue from the removal of athletic tape. The logos on each side of the helmet are thin-milled and the stars are very shinny, almost mirror-like in their appearance.

My Company sponsored Brandon Bass of the Dallas Mavericks and they agreed to pay $50.00 for each point he made from March on to his foundation. Today he had a Youth Camp at the Fort Worth Boy's and Girl's Club. They had 40 kids who got to go for free...but to win the chance to go, they had to write a essay and have ti chosen as a winner to be able to go.

Anyhow, Brandon's publicist is now also Adam "Pacman" Jones' publicist. They have Brandon, Pacman, and Cowboys cornerback Evan Oglesby there. Pacman was actually a really nice guy and had a lot of fun with the kids. He also signed a Football for me. A pretty good day when your company sends you to one of these events and pays you for a day of work as well...

I've never seen an authenticated wristband before. Does the hologram tell you which player wore it?

This is an item I have been looking for ever since I knew the player would be on the Dayton Dragons this season. I've been posting on the wanted section and asking a few connections with no luck about a Devin Mesoraco bat. Well I was browsing ebay and saw a guy selling a Paul Bako Reds bat, I was not interested in that bat at all but I shot him a message asking if he had any other Reds items that he planned on selling. He responded with only one other item and it is the Reds first round draft pick from the other year Devin Mesoraco. So that is that and I picked up the bat for about a THIRD OF THE PRICE I was willing/looking to pay :D !!! By far one of my most favorite pick ups because I will get to meet Devin and this will be one of my first gamers I will get to have signed in person.

Here are two bats that I picked up this month. Ted Simmons is from 1985 he only ordered 12 of this model bat that year. The other bat is a Milwaukee Braves training bat of Charlie Neal the Braves only marked these bats this way in 1955 for spring training. This bat is rare and highly sought after by Braves collectors.

Just got it today and havent taken it of my hand since (If only I was left-handed!)

Glove shows tons of wear

Could only find one pic of him using this style glove with white block letter stitching of name on thumb. So good chance this is that glove. Other pics from that era I found are Rawlings with red cursive name stitched in thumb and pre 1999 Rawlings with "Rawlings" on thumb.

If anyone can find my a good pic 6 X 8 or bigger with this stitching will pay 50-100 bucks

Found some great 1977 Mariners items this month.

First is- 1977 Mariners Wes Stock game used home jersey. The name was removed but you can see the out line of where it was. Coached the M's from '77 to '81, pitched for the KC A's and Baltimore from 1959-67, has 3 World Series Rings from coaching the A's ('72-'74) and was the All Star Pitching Coach in 1975.

Second is: 1977 M's Powder Blue Road Jersey was worn by the Bat Boy, this is a 1st Year Jersey Manufactured by Goodman & Sons, G&S Tag dates to 1975-1984
and the Blue/Yellow/White knit collar/sleeve trim was only worn in '77.

Third is: A 1978 San Jose Missions Jersey. Possibly used by M's Montague (http://www.baseball-reference.com/m/montajo01.shtml) in 1977, M's recycled for 1978 Minor League use, Blue/Yellow/White knit collar and sleeve trim only used in '77. The jersey shows repairs and has been shortened. The San Jose Missions were the first AAA team for the expansion M's, I also had the pleasure of watching them as a kid and got to bat boy.

It is listed as a Dave Dombrowski locker room nameplate.Funny thing is he is the GM of the Tigers I believe.It was only a Game issued as is the Mothers day.I bought the pair for $50...Now if I could only find the sticker ribbons ;)
