Seems like a bizarre way to ask for money. What do you think?

There are too many places that can help this family if truly in dire straits - family, friends, their church home and other community minded organizations. I would be very lerry of this type solicitation.

If the seller posted a multiple item auction with $5 to help his family at a BIN, I am sure that several people would help out. Honestly, I would PayPal the guy $5 in a minute. But to ask for $1,000 - sight unseen - is not a bit quixotic.

the guy spent the amount he's asking for on jerseys and video games last month. if he's seriously out of work and needs to support his family, i suggest that he hit every place in town including fast food joints - chances are he would be hired on the spot and given coverage. heck, take two jobs if necessary and then begin the interviewing process for a better as time allows - no such thing as "menial" labor when it comes to feeding your family.

I was about to point out that he purchased 16 items on ebay last month but you beat me to the punch.

If he is so down on his luck he doesn't need to be selling on eBay

He needs to man up, stop whining and get a job
