Tony Gwynn Jersey Tagging-grey Flannel

I've sold dozens of Padres knits from the 1990's, stars and commons. I've never seen a year tag on any of the 1998 jerseys I've sold, or can remember seeing a 1998 tag on jerseys offered by other dealers or jerseys obtained from the Padres sale.

On the left front tail is the "Russell" manufacturers size 50 wash instructions tag. Attached is the "100% Polyester" flag tag and "1998" year tag. Across the front of the jersey is "PADRES" in navy blue on white on orange triple tackle twill. On the back is the player number "19" in the same tackle twill. Across the back of the jersey is the player name "GWYNN" sewn directly on the jersey in navy blue tackle twill. On the right sleeve is the "Russell" embroidered logo. On the left sleeve is the "Padres" team logo patch. The jersey shows game use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.

Can anyone experienced with Padres knits of this time frame or R.C. Walker possibly provide their insight about year tags on Padres jerseys from 1998, and especially this shirt in question?

Padres jerseys during the Russell Athletic era never had a year tag. To be sure, I asked a couple fellow Padres collectors and a Gwynn collector; They’ve never seen one. 1998 jersey’s should have the attached photo tagging.

As a side note, the Hoyt Padres BP has the wrong number font. An authentic BP would also have the NOB.
