Hi,

I was just wondering what other people's opinions where on this piece. It is a supposedly game used jacket of Barry Bonds. Do you think it is authentic? Here is the link.

Here is a link for another discussion of a Barry Bonds game used jacket that is also being questioned:

Anthony - I posted this on the General Discussion too and saw your Post here too. Here's what I wrote:

For a $100 opening bid it may be worth it to wear to the stadium. As far as this ever being touched by Barry? Doubtful.

Barry once had a Bonds Authenticated memorabilia company run by Steve Hoskins and during 2000 2001 2002 each of Barry's gamer jerseys, jackets, and pullovers should have been embroidered with a Bonds Authenticated tag (see pic below). Additionally I would expect the piece to be auto'd and accompanied by the Bonds hologram.

They embroidered these items before they went into use so if a jersey got out there with the Bonds Authenticated tag but wasn't signed the Bonds collector would know it was a gamer but not necessarily game used since it didn't have the hologram and signature.

Here is what the tagging looks like:

Here's what the COA would look like:

And an example of the hologram (sorry about the flash) and the sig:

There are some great Bonds collectors on the site that hopefully can shed some light too. For good Bonds items try Coveh at bbondsfan@msn.com

I made the initial post about this jacket. My concern isn't the LOA, rather, the size Large. Seems way too small for Bonds.

It is noted that the Bonds embroidered logo was incorporated through 2002. Did Bonds discontiue this practice in 2003? It's interesting to note because I obtained a well worn 2003 Bonds batting practice jersey directly from a National League contact and it did not have the Bonds logo sewn in. It makes me believe he stopped this in 2003, or was wearing so many jerseys he may not have tagged them all.

thoughts?

Howard - As most Bonds collectors found out after the Bonds/Hoskins era, the supply of game used items weren't making it out to the collectors. To be honest with you, I haven't seen a game used jersey, jacket or pullover from 2003 to present.

I have received caps and bats from those years which had Barry's new hologram on it.
