View Full Version : A Tale of Two Helmets...

I was browsing today for a buddy who is interested in a Griffey batting helmet from his Seattle years, and came across two currently on eBay.

Wish I could say I know a huge amount about helmets, but - nope. Is there anyone who could shed some light on these. They appear to have some stark differences for being from the same year (1999)

I know that one is probably a home and the other away...but being a Cards fan, Seattle is a long way from my radar.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Dave,

Kinda odd right?! The prices on two totally different ends of the spectrum. The seller of the lower priced helmet has been discussed on these forums before. I personally have never dealt with this ebayer, however he/his items have had what seems to be mixed reviews. The link below is for the Yount glove...I believe people have talked about the biggio and bagwell hats among other items too. Good luck

Thanks Wade -

Yeah, I know what the seller's reputation is...but until someone can discount something about his helmet, it is up in the air. I don't know enough about helmets to agree or disagree with anythin right now, so I am hoping someone with some Seattle or Griffey smarts can give me a hand.

Prices don't always throw up red flags to me...some very reputable sellers list items for 99 cents just to save on fees.

High prices do nothing either...I see stuff listed at obnoxious prices that have major issues.

The sizes are correct on both helmets. The helmet being sold by "thebbckid" appears to be good and I certainly place higher confidence in its source "Coast To Coast" which sold a lot of Griffey Mariners equipment in the 1990's. I don't know anything about the other seller but would be interested in how they obtained the helmet. I tend to avoid hats or helmets unless I can track how it was obtained.
