B. HEAGY LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO LOL LOL:D :D

Now that was funny

3arod13 I can see your gripe on this one but honestly is it really that bad let me explain why I am saying this.
The condition of the leather is dirty, toned, and the Mantle Autograph is fading.

I am sure you would like to preserve the autograph the way it is but in all reality after about 10 more years the Mantle autograph probably won't even be that noticable.

a nice example from Topps' "Which of these doesn't belong?" line. i've got the "nolan ryan/steve carlton/david wells" card.

Talking about fading, can a baseball signature stay crisp 30 years or more later? I keep all my baseballs out of light and in cases but can the signature stay close to the same?

If I still collected cards and pulled that one - I would be happy that I could at least trade it or sell it quickly. It still has value, and is not something you see every day.

I see what Topps was doing, but honestly, I have seen FAR worse things get pulled from packs...like this turd:

The whole limited edition/hand-numbered thing is pure stupidness to begin with. Topps destroyed yet another perfectly good artifact by ripping it apart and squashing the sigs of two roid-era players who have nothing to do with Mantle onto it. They're doing us a favor by limiting this crap to 1.

I know - it's funny as heck, but not sure I would want it in as the "hit card" of an expensive box...

It is an actual card, and sadly, they are probably rare and selling for $$$ on the bay...

I completely agree. I saw this in Beckett and did not like it at all. It's a good concept, but poorly executed and in the end really did ruin a nice SS of Mantle.

I thinks there's still room to squeeze one or two more sigs on there.

It is a real card pulled from packs - pretty limited too as far as I can tell.
They have been selling in the $1000 to $1500 range.

Jim,
Mantle was a center fielder. He only played a few games at third. Besides, Arod didn't even start playing third until '04.

I know Mantle was a centerfielder, but you said that Arod and Wright have nothing to do with Mantle. I was just commenting that there is a common factor in that all have played third base (at some point) in NY......I'm making a joke to help the card company legitimize making such a piece of junk.

The Allen and Ginter 2007 Topps product even has George Washington hair cards in it. Pretty sweet looking stuff. Here is what card looks like.
http://www.cantstopthebleeding.com/?p=10905

It's kinda funny how in the article a guy wanted to buy the card to try and clone George.

I just don't get what the big interest is in a card that has a signature cut from postcards, 8x10's, 3x5 cards, etc., and attached to a card of today. Then a few signatures of today's players, and BAM! Now it's worth thousands.

I just don't get it

I quit seriously collecting cards the day I spent $500 at a card store on 2 boxes of product and recieved a Ryan Klesko jersey card - Nick Swisher graph and a (I'll never forget this) a Lino Urdaneta graph..

I put together the Allen and Ginter sets so that my son and I will have a reason to go to shows in the future...but it has gotten way out of control.

I'm the opposite. I think those cut signature cards are amazing. Some of them are really well done. It is kinda strange when they cut a signature off a previous autograph insert. But I like them as chases. The chance to pull a dead Presidents graph out of a pack of cards would be awesome. Allen Ginter stuff is really cool. With all the odd ball stuff in them. You can get a Arod and Bruce Lee card in the same pack.
