I have a Posada bat the shows some very good game use, but it is not consistent with the other 2 Posada bats I have... it is much closer to my AROD bat.

I have seen some pics of AROD using a Jeter bat, does anyone know of him using a Posada?

Has anyone heard of this before?

thanks,
Bert

Shoremen can you post pictures of the bat?

AROD has used Posada bats several times.

Especially during a slump he was having in 2006 he started using Posadas bats and Wristbands for good luck because Posada was on a hot streak.

Here is a picture in 2006 with Posadas arm band on.

Pics...

the bat has a handle crack about 4 or 5 inches below the slugger label on the left side of the bat... the crack is about a foot long.

there is nothing on the nob or barrel end... the bat has good light coating of pine tar from about the middle of the slugger label to the nob... there are two spots of checking, and the barrel is ahmmered with use... there are also some rack and cleat marks

Can you show pictures of the actual handle all the way down to the knob?

Shoremen wow this is a hard one.

It could really go either way.

Posada and AROD have similar characteristics so especially with a bat that has hardly any use on it really makes it difficult.

Posada normally pine tars his handle and some times does a criss cross Tape Job, but I have seen quite a few Posada Game Used bats with out tape. Posada also checks his bats with his cleats.

I am not an Arod expert but I do believe AROD uses Mota Stick and also checks his bats with his cleats.

I would say your best bet if you can see it in person as I cannot tell by the pictures if it's pine tar or mota stick that would probably point you in the right direction of who used it.

Have you really seen Posada in a game use a bat without a taped handle?

I too have seen some game used bats for sale without the tape, but I haven't seen him use one with no tape in a game. Sometimes the tape is tough to see as it is usually covered in tar.

But, I would be interested in seeing any pics of him using a bat in a game with no tape.

Thanks
Tom

Tom I will have to dig through pictures to see if I could find them. I have seen in games with a clean handle meaning no tape/light pinme tar.

So give me some time trying to locate pics

I appreciate the help...

the barrell is hammered with use... the tar, what little there is, is really concentrated near the bottom of the slugger logo... and then from to knob to about 6" up...

dont know if that helps at all.

thanks

Shoremen if it is pine tar I would lean a little bit more towards being used by Posada. As I know AROD does favor Mota stick.

Here is another picture as you can see the handle is broke which would show evident around the handle of broken up tape around it if there was tape.

I'm not really sure you can call that a bat without tape. Posada doesn't usually have the tape going up the barrel (O'Neill style).
His usually only covers where his hands would go.

Tom you are correct but if you carefully look at the picture his hands at that particular at bat are lower then normal where his bottom hand is right over the knob. Which then you would see some evidence sticking out tape and or some pine tar which you don't see.

But I have seen him in games on TV where I didn't see him using tape.

I am sure Posada has used a bat in a game with no tape. But, as a buyer I would feel more confident buying one with tape.

I broke out the tape measure. On the Posada bat with the least amount of tape, it is 5.5 inches. This is about a hand and then a little bit of the top hand when gripped.

I think we need to give Jorge a call. Someone get him on the phone in Tampa. :D

Well someone hit baseballs with this bat... Maybe it was the bat boy...

So I have a Posada bat that is hammered with use and no one player defining characteristics. Maybe I'll just call it my phantom Yankees game used bat.

I agree with Tom. I have never seen a legit Posada without tape. And I have never seen him with a bat without tape. Not saying its not possible, but until I see definite proof, I wouldnt touch a Posada gamer without tape. However, I have seen a few Posada's with tape just around the handle near the knob (no criss-cross), that looked like they were good.

Also, he only tapes high enough where his hands cover the tape. In that one WS photo, there appears to be tape on the handle, its just clean because he didnt get a chance to tar it up.

Someone needs to have a talk with Jorge and clear this up :D

I have yet to see a Posada gamer without tape. He tars so heavily that the tape becomes obscured sometimes.
