Can anyone help with the markings on this Nick Johnson bat?

Has anyone seen this on the handle of his bats? Is that a smiley face? Or the LB?

Ok, I got the bat in.

On the end of the barrel there is L.B. written in small letters, similar to that on the handle.

Nick Johnson's #36 is on the handle as well.

Does anyone think L.B. could mean "light bat". Anyone have any ideas. Any Yanks with those initials?
