Hello Everyone-

I noticed a post recently which stated "we should start a new thread about something positive!!!!!" Well, Game Used Universe has heard that request and is announcing something we think will dramatically help the collecting community.

When we initially launched our new memberships in January, we listed the 'Ask About Louisville Slugger Bat Shipping Records' feature as part of our 'Premium' membership. One of the main reasons we did this was that we were trying to be sensitive to Mike Specht and Jim Caravello's time commitments and we thought limiting these questions to paid members only (though everyone would be able to view the questions and answers) wouldn't inundate Mike and Jim with questions that would take a great deal of their time to answer.

Well, Mike, Jim and I have spoken further about this and, in an effort to further benefit the hobby, we have agreed to open this service up to all members of Game Used Universe. Thus, we have created a new forum entitled 'Ask About Bat Shipping Records' where any member of the site can ask Mike or Jim questions pertaining to the Louisville Slugger factory records. Specifically, Mike ad Jim will provide responses to any question for which they have information from Louisville Slugger.

I hope you will join me in thanking Mike and Jim for their constant commitment to benefiting the game used collecting community. This is a tremendous service they are generously providing and we are incredibly thankful that they are willing to offer this to all Game Used Universe members.

Please feel free to let us know if you have any questions. We will be revising the subscription page shortly to reflect the fact that the 'Ask About Bat Shipping Records' program will now be included in our complimentary membership.

Sincerely,

This is outstanding news! Mike has been very generous with his time helping me in the past. By formalizing this service and making it available to the masses, you're doing a great service for the collecting community. Thanks!

Chris, I asked that a forum be opened to discuss real life so when I go off on a tangent, I have somewhere to go.

Isn't the bat shipping records something you have to pay for on this site before this new forum?

Hello Joel-

Thank you for your questions. We have actually never charged anyone for information regarding the bat shipping records. In fact, Mike and Jim have generously provided responses to all questions regarding bat shipping records on this forum to date without any fees to members. In fact, we will be copying previous threads over that exist in other forums to the new forum within the next week or so to aggregate all this information in one convenient place for members.

As mentioned in my previous post, we were initially planning to reserve the question asking to 'Premier' members in the future so as not to inundate Mike and Jim with questions that would require a great deal of their time to answer. However, Mike and Jim, in their desire to help the collecting community, have graciously agreed to offer this service to all Game Used Universe members in an attempt to help as many of our members as possible.

As to your other question, while I will check with our group internally, I think it is unlikely that we will be offering a "real life" forum on this site as it is focused on benefiting the sports collectible community and there are many other sites on the web that offer "real life" type forums. It is not that we don't want you to have a place to discuss tangential topics. It is just that we need to keep our attention focused on the sports collectible market.

Please let me know if that answers your questions.

Sincerely,
Christopher Cavalier
