In Seattle this weekend we had our M's Fan Fest. Overall it was poorly attended as we had very cold weather, snow expected and a competing event at Qwest Field (Home of the Seahawks). I went with my father and my 13 year old son, that was nice in and of itself!

What worked? It was nice getting to do Q&A's with the GM, Coaches and Players. They setup a extension to the store with game used items, and game used items you could actually try on. The interactive things out on the field where really enjoyed by the kids as well.

The "Garage" sale had one item that was awesome to me being a Raul Ibanez fan, game used helmet for $40 bucks pictured below, this helmet must have a story and I plan on asking Raul at the Golf tournament in May as to what it is (He must have been really upset to do this damage). The garage sale also had other issued and used items from common players and coaches that would be perfect for entry level collectors at $40 and MLBA authenticated. I also picked up for $25 a Arthur Rhodes game worn 2007 cap, he was a major part of our 2001/2002 seasons with ERAs of 1.72 and 2.33. He just signed a minor league, post surgery contract so we will so how that pans out in 2008.

On major find for me was a Ben Broussard TBTC 1977 game used batting helmet, I have been watching this item for months in the main store but at $300 was just not worth the spend to me even though he was the hero of the game going 2 for 2 with a home run, winning it in extra innings. When I first arrived they didn't have it out, but they decided to add it since he signed with Texas during the off season and dropped the price to $90, game used helmet from the star of the game with a HR....$90....SOLD. He is a awesome player and seeing him with Texas next season is a bad thing!

Enjoy the images, and look forward to hearing about your experience!

It was a big tent, about six sections over to the right as you entered the main gate and had the Mariners Care charity people running it. All the funds went to charity.
Cheers,

I can't bring myself to part with any of it right now.

Dickerson is one of my favorite Reds players and I am really high on Bray also

I haven't taken the tape off to check who used it yet

It is either Quinton McCracken, Norris Hopper or a minor leaguer

I LOVE GOING TO REDSFEST IT IS SO AWESOME

You let me know if any of that collection is something you want to part with.

Didn't get much at the Braves Fanfest except for a Ryan Langerhans & Pete Orr game used broken bats. I dated the Langerhans bat to being used in his rookie season in 2005 which is pretty cool. They were only $10 a piece

From what I have been told from another member on this board that is very trustworthy, the Rangers will not be doing another sell like that. Apparently they marked stuff down big time since most of the game used stuff never sells and they ended up selling more than they wanted to.

Does anyone know what the Astros do with their game used stuff like bats, jerseys, hats, helmets etc? As you can imagine, the elusive hunt to find more Erstad stuff continues!

Just curious if you are from North Dakota as well? It seems everyone here is a Twins fan (because we don't have our own professional team) and an Erstad fan because he is one of very few big leaguers from North Dakota (Jamestown to be exact).

Hey B1SON
I live in Minnesota but I have tons of family in North Dakota, including Jamestown. My god-parents work with Darin's parents and my cousin played High School sports with Darin. That's why i started collecting his stuff. Where abouts do you live?

It would be fun if Jamestown could display your collection for people to see sometime. It's very impressive. I live in Fargo and am a professor at NDSU. I teach Physical Education majors, so I have a TON of football players and hence my NDSU collecting.

Someday they'll probably have a little Darin Erstad Museum up there. I suppose I could put some of the stuff on display. I'd really like to meet Darin and show him my stuff some day. That'd be the ultimate!

My wife just left a job where she worked directly with his brother Brian. I know Brian is a really nice guy and according to him his brother is a very down to earth nice guy as well, who does make it home once in a while in the winter. I'll keep my ears open and let you know if something can be arranged. Obviously, I am not guaranteeing anything. Take care! Joe

Hey Twins..
The Astros sold plenty of stuff throughout the season on MLB.com auctions, such as the Last game jerseys with Biggio, so keep an eye out there.

Did they sell every game used jersey on there or just the big guys? Do you remember price ranges? I know it's early to start talking about it, but I'm in the mood for baseball and everything!
